Food was good but nothing special - Edit
We had the oyster mushroom burger and it was good but nothing special and everything was kind of dry because there wasn't enough sauce. The cake was pretty good but a small slice for the price.

We really liked it here. Staff was very friendly and the food was really good. The handcut chips were very nice. We really liked the overall menu selection, simple yet well-combined!

Cute place, really good food - Edit
A very sweet place in the center, large selection of breakfast, lunch and dessert. We visited twice, once for the full breakfast, the sausages were really good, the bread and beans were also delicious, but I wasn't really crazy about the scample tofu and tempeh bacon. On the second time we got the soup of the day, which was mushroom and thyme with delicious sourdough bread, and the the best sandwich I have ever had, the Rueben sandwich. Next time i visit Edinburgh I want to try the burgers. One big critique is that the place is really cold, no heating. On the first visit I had the wear my jacket, and on the second is was warmer outside so better inside as well, but bring a sweater!

Holy cow has lovely food with good portion sizes. Since the commercialisation of vegan food it’s harder to find grass roots vegan food but the salad and the burger we had was great.

Very good carrot lox sandwich with homemade cream cheese, refreshing and tasty. Nice to have oat milk hot drinks too. Outside space at the back looks colourful.

Lovely cafe w/ gluten-free options - Edit
There’s something about Holy Cow that makes it feel like a proper old-school vegan cafe (in the best way! 10 year vegans will know what I mean, aha). Delicious food, cakes and drinks with lots of great gluten-free options. Definitely a vegan staple in Edinburgh!

Tucked away just below the street you’ll find Holy Cow! And Holy Cow the food was good and filling! Went for an oyster mushroom burger and banoffee cake!

The burger was really tasty and the fries were good if you like thick cut fries! Had a nice crispy texture (the oyster mushrooms) and just very pleasant to eat!

Not tasty - Edit
I had the avo toast which came on bread which appeared home made, I really didn’t enjoy it as it was bland and a weird texture, and wasn’t able to eat the meal. I ordered this with a cappuccino which came to £18.

Flavourless burger and undercooked chips - Edit
We got a burger each but found them so disappointing! The mushrooms had no flavour and the kidney bean and soya patte was mushy and tiny on the bun so half the bites were just bread. The chips were also undercooked.
Read moreDon’t like to give vegan places bad reviews but we just felt being served this would put people off if they were just trying it out.
The server was lovely and we didn’t try the cakes, maybe they are nicer than the main menu. I’m suprised to see all the high reviews, maybe be caught them on a bad day?
Pros: Server friendly, It’s vegan
Cons: No flavour, Undercooked chips, Soggy burger patte
