Best vegan chocolate croissant… - Edit
Chocolate croissants were my favorite before becoming vegan and I have yet to find a vegan version that matches the flaky texture that I remember. Well, the chocolate croissant they make here comes close enough. It was so good. I was impressed by the variety of donuts and pastries they offer at this all vegan bakery as well. Simply wow’ed. Every vegan should pay this place a visit if ever in Tokyo.

Very good bakes - Edit
I tried the old school chocolate donut and the coffee bun. The chocolate on the donut was very good but the donut was a bit too dry, still yummy though. The coffee bun was very delicious, recommend!

Very fresh and high quality! - Edit
Absolutely loved the salted rolls. Doughnuts holes or "children" were very fresh and light. You can't sit inside but there are benches and sub umbrellas outside. Friendly staff.

Delightful - Edit
Went to Universal Bakes Nicome after visiting Universal Bakes and Cafe and it was everything we had hoped for. There was a great selection of savoury and sweet treats - we got the gluten free donut and a chocolate roll. The cold brew was much needed on a hot day and delightfully smooth. Definitely worth a stop for a quick bite and some relaxing vibes.

Our new holy place - Edit
This small bakery was exactly what we hoped it would be.
Read moreA short trip from Shinjuku Station this place is absolutely not to be missed. They have an incredible range of sweet pastries and breads, as well as doing coffees and hot drinks.
The staff were also extremely friendly and before leaving we bought extra for breakfast the next morning.
I particularly recommend the cinnamon roll!

Pastries heaven - Edit
Savory muffins, donuts, croissants, etc. What more could I ask for? This shop is mainly for takeaway and sweet pastries while another store- Universal Bakes and Cafe has some seatings and food menu.

So many options - Edit
First off - Google Maps will give you the runaround. Best to get directions to "ENTRANCE HALL" Ary Gallery. Once you get there, the bakery is down the far end of the complex, on the upper level.
Read moreNo indoor seating which is a shame on a rainy day such as today, but there's so many good looking options on offer, don't let the weather deter you.
I got banana French toast, a chocolate donut and a delicious looking muffin even though I have no idea what it is.
They also sell bread (vegan bread! In Japan!!), French sticks, oat/but bar, packaged vegan chocolate blocks, coffees etc.
Pros: Heaps to choose from
Cons: Nowhere to sit on a wet day

Great blueberry muffin, period - Edit
The doughnuts and toasts and other things looked awesome but I only wanted a humble muffin. (I often crave blueberry muffins and they are one of my favorite baked goods) Based on the muffin though, I’m pretty sure everything else is also great.

Great bakery - Edit
Really well done baked goods. I strongly recommend banana and cardamom muffin. More muffins should just have a banana stuck in the middle.
Read moreThey also do coffees and some non-sweet options: sandwiches, but the choice here is limited.
Pros: Great textures of the doughs, Fun flavours, Nice location
Cons: Small choice of non-sweet options

Great vegan options - Edit
This venue had many more sweet options than the original across town. We got three different sweets and all were good. Nothing was the most amazing thing ever, but it was all yummy and we would love to return to try the big range of different sweets they have. If in the suburb again, we would come here and give the original location a miss.

Vegan Pastry HEAVEN - Edit
what isn’t there to like about this place wow!!! the choice is out of this world i had so much fun deciding, they have a bakery in the back too and if something was finished they should go back and get a new whole tray out. INSANE! Such friendly people and very very helpful. they had gluten options too which was wild !! gosh this place was a great find. the textures and flavours, fluffiness of the bakes immaculate!! i cannot express my highest praise for this , it is so rare to find a 100% vegan bakery with good prices and 10/10 quality .

Drinks overpriced, but baked goods selection is amazing! - Edit
I dont think I have ever seen so many vegan baked goods in Japan in the same place. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised. They have croissants, muffins, cupcakes, donuts, scones - you name it. I am actually am ok with the prices on the baked goods, but I thought the drink menu prices were a little stiff.

The Best Pastries in Tokyo - Edit
This is the second location of Universal Bakes, my favorite bakery in all of Tokyo. It is take out only, but there are plenty of places to sit and hangout in the area. If you do want to sit in, the other location is not too far to walk to. The options are slightly different and change up all the time, so it's a great opportunity to try new exciting types of bread and pastries. Together with the other branch, this is one of my most visited spots in Tokyo.
