Great place! The pizza with vegan cheese was very tasty and my friends claimed their pasta was the best they ever had in the UK. Highly recommended!

The size of the gluten free pizza was the same as the normal vegan one. The vegetables on top were more than I've ever had anywhere. It left us full, my friend for the first time ever, with gluten free! We will certainly be returning.

Interesting & Tasty Pasta but awful Crème Brule - Edit
I was here for a late lunch on a Friday (a while back). I had the Vegan Penne Al Salmone [£13.90] – Penne cooked in a creamy sauce with garlic, cherry tomatoes, soy cream and vegan salmon topped with fresh parsley and vegan parmesan, because I was curious about the vegan Salmone. I really enjoyed it – the sauce was creamy, savoury and fragant (with the olive oil). It was balanced with some sweet and fresh tomatoes. I have no idea what the vegan salmon is made of but the flaky and delicate texture was very reminiscent of salmon, and added a nice texture to the dish. However, there was only a sprinkling of it. It was a huge plate and tasty dish with a decent topping of vegan parmesan, but for the price I thought it would’ve been nice if it had more of the vegan salmon. I was excited to try the Vegan Crème Brule [£5.50]… only to be disappointed by what I actually got. It was watery and gloopy. It was pretty much watery rice pudding with burnt sugar on top – not good at all.
Read moreThey have a wide selection of pizza and pastas, all vegetarian and with a similar number of vegan options. The service was a bit slow (considering I was there was only another table of 4 aside from me). The restaurant has an odd mix of décor that might throw you off when you enter. Still, it has a warm and cosy vibe. It is a narrow space so there isn’t many tables, so probably a good idea to make a reservation if you’re planning to come here for dinner.
From what I had, they show promise – the pasta was delicious with some room for improvement. Good pasta and lovely notion of Vegetarian-Vegan Italian food, but definitely left have room for improvement. All in all, I would return should I find myself in Edinburgh again as I would like to try their other pastas and also pizzas.

Lovely cosy vegan Italian - Edit
Fantastic large menu, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Have eaten here a few times and never been disappointed with the either pizza or pasta (my favourite is the spicy calzone). The deserts are pretty fab too. It is quite small so during busy periods book or call ahead.

After visiting again my partner and I were left deeply disappointed. First, there was the salty salty salty flat seitan steak. We have had it in the past and this time was nothing like the previous times. Roast potatoes that come with the steak had zero taste.
We also had the 4 cheese gnocchi and it was a similar experience, in previous occasions, we could definitely feel the 4 kinds of cheese, even the blue cheese, this time was only a creamy meh.
The last disappointment was, sadly, the waitress, who was very clueless and couldn't even ask a little request to the kitchen. (We could have been totally fine if they said they couldn't make it but they didn't even ask). We would have loved to express how we felt but we were not asked at the end if we liked it or not.
Very sad experience would probably take a while to go back.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: In our experience, Its not the same as it used to.

Great vegan options! - Edit
Lovely atmosphere and great vegan options. The service was a little slow, don't go if you're in a hurry, but food was worth the wait. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was pretty mind-blowing. It was a huge portion, served in a big pan.
Read moreMy husband was a little disappointed by his lasagne which was, comparatively, much smaller, and could have really benefited from something extra (like a side salad perhaps) to fill the large empty plate.
I also had the peanut butter and jam vegan cheesecake with vegan ice-cream for dessert. Delicious!
Pros: Delicious vegan food, Lots of choice for vegans, Welcoming atmosphere
Cons: Slow service, Small lasagne

Don’t get it delivered - Edit
We were so excited to try this pizza based on all the wonderful reviews. We were tired after a long day of sightseeing and decided to have our food delivered. It was barely warm when it got here. The focaccia is nothing more than regular pizza dough so I’m not sure why they are calling it focaccia. The pizza was ok but nothing I would order again. We had ordered the tiramisu and the creme brûlée so imagine our disappointment when we pull out two pieces of chocolate cake with a note attached saying they were out of our requested items. Overall not a good experience

Lovely food wine and service. On a busy Friday night the pizzas did not disappoint and the atmosphere was delightful. My only regret was not having enough room for the legendary cheese cake!

NovaPizza is incredible. Almost everything on the menu can be made vegan, and the pizza and pasta is great. However, leave room for the cheesecake! It's so good and I promise you will not regret it. The peanut butter and jam one is my favourite.

OK but won’t rush back - Edit
We had pizza and then shared a tiramisu. Wearing a winter coat I felt cramped in a chair almost in the way at the front, under the counter. Busy Saturday evening and we had reserved. The menu needs more starter choices e.g. things that are not pizza - salad? Olives? But choices of mains very extensive. Pizza itself was ok but my other half was offered black pepper and I was not - hard to catch the waitress’s eye in this chair. Tiramisu was dry and didn’t taste boozy or coffeey - had they forgotten to soak the cake part? As we live away we’re unlikely to return as there are other places to try in Edinburgh.

The best vegan pizza in town - Edit
Once of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. The pizzas are so good here and such a great range of vegan pizza which is hard to find in many other places. The place is quite small so it’s a good idea to book. Cosy place, great pizza and the Nutella cheesecake is amazing

One of my favourite veggie restaurants in Edinburgh. Small, cosy venue with friendly staff and the biggest vegan selection of pasta and pizza dishes. Perfect if you want something vegan that doesn't feel really healthy. Huge portion sizes and also great selection of rich deserts. I've never been anywhere like it :)

Can’t recommend this enough! Everything is vegetarian and nearly everything is also available vegan. Went today for the second time with my family who isn’t vegan, but they loved it just as much.

Charcoal pizza - everything burnt - Edit
My partner and I went to Nova Pizza last Wednesday. Everything we ordered was burnt to a crisp. The garlic focaccia appetiser was burnt to a cinder around the edges, as were both pizzas. If I was dining alone I would have sent everything back but my too polite partner didn't want to make a fuss because we'd have good experiences previously. I've been frequenting this restaurant on a regular basis since it opened and I'm appalled by the deterioration in quality. The chef seems to have no pride in the standard of the food leaving the kitchen.

based in stockbridge just a short distance from town. Novopizza is a friendly welcoming eatery offer a total vegetarian menu, with a double page vegan menu.
Read morea good choice of starters, i have the bruschetta which was really good offering a good slice of bread, covered in vine tomato gently cooked in olive oil and balsamic, not oily at all.
there are plenty of main options and i went for the vegan pepperoni which was was on a thin base and well cooked, the vegan cheese was a much stronger flavour the mozzarella and was bubbling over the pepperoni and tomato base. my friend had the veggie calzone which was huge and came with a small side salad.
visited again recently and upped to 5 coos. it's not about the veggie food, its also about the ingredients. he only uses organic flour in his pizza and when we spoke about this he said i have a five year old, i want her to eat good food. Owners who believe in what they are doing not just out to make money from a growth in vegan food.
the one think i wouls like to add is that it does great pasta. nearly everyone i know gets pizza and has never tried the pasta, give it a go it's great.
Still awesome
It's not cheap for an Italian, but it's [censored] still awesome!
Upped the presentation. Boom.

Nova is a must visit if you are ever in Edinburgh. I decided to go after hearing so many positive reviews and looking at the menu. What a wonderful place! The restaurant itself is a proper Italian with gorgeous murals on the walls. The staff are so so friendly. I was so impressed with the menu, I'd never seen Seitan on pizza offered before. As for the food, I think I can say it was the best pizza I've ever had. It seems like many agree as the man next to me said the same thing! Also, I recommend the Vegan Chocolate cake for desert - divine! 5 stars through and through! I will definitely return - maybe for Valentines day!
