Probably the best vegan dining option in Amsterdam - Edit
One of the few vegan places in Amsterdam where you can really take the time to enjoy a nice, high quality dinner. This was very much needed in addition to the many vegan fast-food places that were opened in the last years. The dishes are really tasty, often surprising and well-balanced. The owner is very friendly and enthusiastic. I think the pricing is very reasonable, considering the quality of both the dishes and the ingredients used.

The food is tasty but can’t say it blew my mind. Meals are quite small (starters are tinyyyy) and the service was slow (poor girl in the kitchen was all alone with plenty of orders).
Read moreThe meals were served in a very beautiful way, you see it’s gourmet food but still can’t say I was really impressed with the taste. It was tasty but not WOW.
Main course for 19€, starters for 9€; starters main course dessert 30€ in total. Glass of wine - 7€.
IMHO with these prices food could be a bit more delicious.
Recommend to visit if you’re tired of regular vegan meals served everywhere but also if you aren’t really hungry and aren’t afraid of their prices haha.

Went there in March 2019. I went there because I stayed near this place (a quite remote area from the City Centre) and it was open on Sunday night, and I'm glad I did. I had the plate of lima beans with smoked paprika, freekeh, fennel salad, quince, alioli, smoked tempeh and gondino (19€!) for main course, and the tiramisu for dessert (8.5€). All was very good, and the staff was very friendly despite the weird atmosphere (there was nobody else in the restaurant). But damn it was expensive! I'm all for paying the right price for good ingredients and making sure workers get a decent wage, but I sure couldn't afford this kind of restaurant every month. So, if you're in Amsterdam, and want good food without having to save money, go for it!

It lies outside the tourist area of Amsterdam but as a tourist (in its own country) it is very worthwhile to visit this vegan restaurant!

Delicious, well prepared food at this upmarket restaurant on KNSM island. Pricier than mpst other vegan restaurants in Amsterdam but worth it given the quality of the food - three courses for €35. Perfect for a date or small group.

Nice range of beers and wines too. The restaurant is quite a way out from the city centre but worth a visit if you have never been to that part of town.i

Nieuw juweeltje in Amsterdam - Edit
We kwamen in eerste instantie alleen voor een drankje op het terras, maar we zijn meteen ook blijven eten. Het eten is heel lekker, de eigenaresse ontzettend klantvriendelijk en de locatie is prachtig (weg uit alle hectiek van de stad). Een echte aanrader!

Tongstrelend food feest! - Edit
Wat een feest is het om te eten bij Bonboon! Elk gerecht is verrassend en met zoveel liefde en kennis voor het vegan kookvak gemaakt. Heerlijke smaken en mooi opgemaakt. Daarbij ook nog eens hele fijne wijnsuggesties per gang (tongstrelende rode wijn gedronken) en tot slot een gepassioneerde eigenaresse met lef die alle aandacht voor je heeft.

Read moreThe only point for improvement is the music. I would prefer to hear nice and refined dining music, rather than pop or folk rock, as the music did not really suit the distinguished food.
Tip: try the matcha desert, it’s outstanding!

Bonboon offers a dining experience not often presented to the vegan: Fine Dining. And is, therein, an absolute treat. A very relaxed atmosphere, wonderfully hospitable owner and cool open kitchen design make for a romantic (in the classical sense [or not!]) evening. The principle seems to be letting the complexity of the flavours of vegetables stand alone. That means no meat imitations, and no meals aspiring to be a stop gap for some carnist desire. Above all, the food was delicious.

I had a wonderful meal here. The beet pear salad on a bed of cashew cheese was a delicious starter to the meal. Then I had the stuffed portobello which was covered with a flaky crust that was savory and satisfying. Finally, the apple crumble was a yummy finish. There was plenty of food and the flavors complemented one another to provide a unique plant-based meal.
I had a nice conversation with the owner and learned a lot about the vegan community in Amsterdam. This made the meal even more special.
I highly recommend Bonboon!

We came to eat here a few days after they opened and we had some great food and a great time. The menu is very refreshing and not like most vegan places who just offer vegan burger or other veganized food. At Bonboon you'll find tasty dishes made of fresh and local ingredients. The portions they serve are good so you get good value for your money. And the staff is very friendly and welcoming as well. Also make sure to try some of their amazing desserts!

I had the pleasure to eat here in the first week of opening. Perfect place to relax and soak up the view. The food was mouthwatering. Staff is super friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Highly recommended!
