Absolutely first class food. Excellent deli as well. They stock a rolling variety of vegan cheeses, plus vegan deli meats. This is my favourite place in Edinburgh, joint with Sora Lella, nearby.

Delicious vegan takeaway - Edit
Delicious place with lots of vegan pastries and snacks to take away. It doesn’t have a place to sit but there is a very nice park nearby where you can sit an enjoy the food.

Best cafe in Edinburgh - Edit
Black Rabbit is indisputably the best cafe in Edinburgh. They have a great mix of innovative sweet and savoury baked goods. There's usually something new and unique along with the stuff they usually have, like cruffins, cakes, croissants, and cheesecake. The owners are lovely and really get to know their frequent customers; for example, I have some food allergies including nuts, and they always let me know when something contains nuts. They also have a takeaway food menu of hot and cold sandwiches, a couple of fridges with cold drinks, deli "meats" and a variety of cheeses (nut based and otherwise), and several shelves of pantry goods and other sweet and savoury snacks (including jerky, LoveRaw bars and Jeavons toffees).

Visited today on my way to the park, the cheese and vegan meat slices selection they offer is by far the best I’ve ever seen in the UK, I was left speechless by the sheer amount and quality of everything we tried, amazing sandwiches (the green rabbit is amazing!) and the cakes are to die for! They also have vegan savoury pastries and huge sausage rolls, looking forward to trying them soon!

Fantastic cake selection - Edit
I just love this place!! Used to live nearby and we’d often grab lunch and go have a little picnic in the meadows nearby. This place was high on my list of places I wanted to return to on our trip back. The cakes are fantastic, and they also stock some interesting vegan items to take away as well (nice vegan deli meats, cheeses, specialty items that can be a little harder to find such as squirty cream, vegan wagon wheels, Twilight chocolate bars etc).
Read moreEdit: I forgot to mention how huge their selection of vegan cheese is - it’s really quite remarkable! Definitely worth checking out if you’re after something a little more fancy me.
The staff are super sweet and friendly too!

Every time I go in, I feel like I’m at home. The owners are so kind and lovely. Every single thing I have tried here is amazing! They bake their bread, cakes and pastries fresh. They have a large selection of vegan cheeses, meats, butters etc. and they are hands down the BEST I have ever had ever. Grab a toastie, a coffee and some cheese to go- you won’t regret it! The shamembert is legit to die for!

the fittest burger i have ever eaten - Edit
Visited black rabbit cafe today with a friend today and we ate our food sitting in the Meadows, since it has such a great location being near to the main campus as well. The place is 100% vegan (woo!!) and has such a massive menu, considering it is only a tiny location. You can see the food being literally made in front of you, fresh ingredients and quickly prepared.
Read moreI ate the mushroom and blue cheese burger and it was absolutely amazing (caramelized onions and rocket also brought it to whole other level of beauty). Will deffo be going back to try some other items on the menu asap .... also to note they sell cruffins and carrot cake in the baked goods counter which looked stunning. Both my friend and I were blown away by the taste and it is also good to support small, independent businesses right now.
Pros: amazing food, cruffins !!, freshly made and quick
Cons: absolutely nothing, should open up at different locations

Vegan heaven - Edit
I believe that if heaven exists, it must look like this shop! Just brilliant. Their sweet treats and other in-house baked goodies are just unbelievable. Almond croissant being my personal favourite.
Read moreAlso, they probably have the best selection of vegan cheese in Scotland. I love blue cheese but never tasted an acceptable vegan alternative, until I discovered Black Rabbit. Their veganzola literally took my breath away, tasted like the real thing!
They also stock other products I haven't seen elsewhere in Scotland. Really unique.
The owners are incredibly nice and helpful.
Pros: Incredible sweets, Nice owners, The best selection of vegan cheese
Cons: Almost no seating

Fantastic! An amazing addition to Edinburgh - Edit
After months of hearing great things about Black Rabbit, I finally made it in earlier this month. We got some absolutely delicious food to take away and eat on the Meadows (breakfast roll and tofu Benedict) as well as plenty of artisan vegan cheeses and bacon to take home with us. The veganzola cheese has been a real highlight for me as I used to love blue cheese before I went vegan! We will definitely be back.
