Really good cakes - Edit
The cakes and pastries are so good, can’t tell they are vegan at all. The sandwiches are also good. Wish they had a place to sit in though

Best deli/cafe ever!!! - Edit
100000% recommend this place. We ordered so much and were so sad we could go back. I ordered a baguette that was 7 pounds and was bigger than my forearm. We ordered a range of desserts, my favourite being the berry and custard cruffin. My partner loved his chutney bagel and the croissant. Definitely go if you are in Edinburgh.

Amazing food and great service - Edit
Went here a couple of times whilst in Edinburgh. Always great service and the food is absolutely amazing. I had the Bahn Mi baguette, breakfast sausage and egg sandwich, blackcurrant custard cruffin, sausage roll and charcoal white chocolate croissant. All of it delicious and was the best breakfast sausage and croissant I’ve had!

Amazing! - Edit
We went for breakfast and it was amazing. We got 2 hot drinks, a sandwich, pastry and 2 cakes all for £20. Really fairly priced! The bacon and egg sandwich was some of the best vegan tofu I’ve ever had.
Read moreOnly downside is there is nowhere to sit inside, however if you keep walking down the street there’s benches in the park. Obviously not in their control!
NUT ALLERGY: I have a peanut allergy, they had one item with peanut butter made it clear to me they used peanuts in the kitchen. The kitchen was small and really clean. No issues😄
Pros: All vegan, Well priced , Loads of choice

Best sandwiches/baguettes - Edit
These people know how to make sandwiches. We came here to get some sandwiches to take with us on our walk. Tosti's, ham & cheese and haggis. And 2 baguettes, Benedict and Sham. The tosti's were so good. Generously filled. And the baguettes were huge, also generously filled. And a nae egg and lorna sausage roll, I wanted to try that one too. Delicious!

Terrible - Edit
I was really looking forward to trying Black Rabbit but I have to say I was left disappointed. I got the Black Forest cake which was so dry when I stuck my fork into it, it crumbled to pieces and was inedible and had a very artificial taste. The icing was also extremely greasy and not pleasant at all.
Read moreI also got a biscoff cruffin which I was excited about but again I was left disappointed. It was not a cruffin, it was a bun shaped into a cruffin. There was nothing cruffin about it. It also had the same very greasy icing for the filling which wasn’t pleasant over all very disappointed and also not the best customer experience too.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Customer service , Food

I’m a sucker for vegan croissants, and Black Rabbit did not disappoint. I got the plain, Belgian chocolate, and courgette & goat cheese. All were delicious, as was my chai latte! Highly recommend.

We went to Black Rabbit a couple of times during our stay in Edinburgh. Highlights were the cheeses we bought and some of the baked goods, which included a scrambled tofu and sausage roll, a haggis and cheese turnover and a white chocolate croissant.

Top notch sandwiches - Edit
I've had the Green Rabbit and the Salmon & Cream Cheese Bagel and both were very nice although the salmon looked or tasted nothing like how I remember it. They make them on the spot with fresh ingredients. In addition to sandwiches they have mouthwatering baked goods in their window!

Soooo many savoury and sweet treats. We got the nae egg and Lorne roll - this was delicious, they used scrambled tofu and had favoured it really nicely. A pesto, tomato and cheese pastry, blackcurrant and custard cruffin and a plain croissant.

This place is the absolute best! Never have I seen such a large selection of vegan cheese, from well known brands to small companies, I picked up some delicious pastry too, with bacon, cranberry and Brie, it was straight out of the oven! Over the next few visits I will have to try all the sandwiches🤣

Their bakon and sham toastie is to die for!!! Absolutely loved our lunches here, which we enjoyed sitting in the meadows. Can highly recommend the Custard and Blackcurrant cruffin. The haggis toastie was delicious, however really heavy- could be a good one to share!

The Best Deli in Edinburg - Edit
We were in town three days and stopped by Black Rabbit every day. Their breakfast pastries were incredible, such delicate pastry with these rich flavors. The sandwiches were amazing as well. And you can’t forget the sweet pastries. Everyone needs to try a cruffin. There’s also a really substantial amount of grocery items and a lot that we’ve never found in London. The owners were also just lovely people that even made one pastry a second day just so I could have another one. Cannot recommend these guys enough.
