Best place ever!

The food was spectacular, very healthy and very tasty, also a lot of creativity in the menu and the staff was super friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Basically the perfect place, I went 3 times in 3 days to try different menu items and they were all amazing.

Highly recommended.

Pros: Clean, Convenient, Tasty and healthy

What’s the correct address for this restaurant? Where is it located? I’ve found at least three different locations and don’t know what’s the right one

Perfect quality and flavours!

The menu is extensive, with many Asian style dishes and a few western ones. There was too much choice!! If you have time, definitely try to visit multiple times so you can try more of the menu.

The restaurant is clean, modern and the staff there are so friendly and helpful. They constantly topped up our water and tried to explain the menu which was helpful. Staff speak a little English.

All the dishes we had were amazing, so many different flavours with a focus on vegetables rather than loads of fake meat which I appreciated.

The rice dish I had was particularly amazing and it's stayed in my memory ever since!

They also do some Asian-style desserts which are hard to come by vegan. Unfortunately I ate too much for my mains so didn't have room for dessert! But I did get a tofu blueberry cheesecake to takeaway which was amazing.

Value for money was also incredible - I think I had about 4 dishes, a drink and a dessert to takeaway for less than 300 yuan!

Pros: Amazing variety, Value for money, Great customer service

Incredible flavors

I absolutely loved everything I tried here! This cuisine feels Michelin Star quality for its complexity and the freshness of the ingredients. Had a Dai-style hot and sour soup which had passion fruit seeds along with mushrooms, tofu, and such good flavor. Don’t miss this place! #Veganuary

Pros: Complex flavors and ingredients, Healthy, Affordable and friendly

Must go lunch spot

Vegefood offers a nice interior space and a variety of interesting food selections. The staff was nice, but didn’t speak English. It was difficult communicating properly my nut allergy and accidentally got a dish with with some type of peanut oil. Survived lol

Pros: Variety of food, Flavorful

Cons: Non-english speaking staff

Huge variety and amazing quality

When people said it’s hard to choose from a big menu, I genuinely was not expecting the amount of choices to be this varied and all sound amazing. It’s like fine dining style food with so many unique dishes that it really is very very hard to pick what to go for!
The atmosphere is busy and casual and quite small but all the staff are so attentive. There is a paper menu but you place your order on WeChat mini app Meituan which has all the items listed. There’s an option to specify for certain requests and preferences too.
I like how they give quite detailed descriptions which can be rare, but is highly valued by me who is a fussy eater. Things indicating if it’s spicy, or a little spicy, or if the general flavour is sweet or salty etc.
The price is moderate - most dishes 58RMB and you’d pick a few, good to order more if you’re with others and share between you. The quality of the food and taste makes it worth the price. I recommend the green pea and lily flower in truffle sauce.
So many drink options and a few desserts which I’d like to try - definitely recommend going more than once in your trip as it’s amazing and yummy and you could try a new thing each time!

Pros: Unique dishes with a mix of western and Chinese, Fancy experience but good value food

Cons: Tables are very close together

Absolut empfehlenswert

Wohnlich und zugleich stylisch eingerichtet in hellen Farben. Sehr aufmerksames und super freundliches Personal, die fast alle fließend Englisch sprechen. Mega große Auswahl an Gerichten. Geschmacklich nicht high end, aber sehr solide.

Pros: Tolles Design, Umfangreiche Karte, Herzliche Mitarbeiter

Delicious and vegan!

So wonderful to be able to go to this restaurant and choose anything we wanted without worrying it might have meat in it. Very clear descriptions in both Chinese and English. Delicious food and not too expensive. 2 of us shared 5 dishes for the equivalent of £24. It was more than enough food.

Pros: All vegan and veggie , Wonderful service friendly , Easy to find

Good, but a bit expensive

Interesting modern cuisine, using Chinese ingredients. Not the best place for sharing dishes for groups, the plates are quite small. Expensive.

Topper! Stress to choose

When looking at combination of atmosphere, quality of food and friendliness this is the best vegan restaurant in Shanghai for me (so far). Very extensive menu, was actually a bit overwhelmed. I think the menu is around 20 pages (add some pics of the menu to give an idea). Super clean and modern interior. Had the Dai flavored shredded chicken (highly recommended), the avocado bowl and a carrot-appel-lemon juice making it a perfect and absolutely yummy lunch. Not my last visit 🩷

Highly recommend this place!

The atmosphere of the place is calm and clean though we did arrive at a time before it gets crowded. Before 5pm they only serve drinks and simple dishes but that was no problem as we took a long time to study the extensive menu. They have lots of different things to choose from so I’m sure everyone can find something, whether it be more western or chinese flavour food. The staff was super polite, kind and attentive and very knowledgable about their menu. We shared 5 dishes between 2 people and it was the perfect amount considering we were both very hungry. Can wholeheartedly recommend the mushroom kebab and dai style shredded chicken. We definitely want to come back :)
Btw its 100% vegan! Staff did recommend to come during times that its less busy (for dinner before 6pm) or to call ahead.

Pros: Friendly staff, Clean atmosphere, Amazing food

Probably my top vegan experience in Shanghai

Fully pledged Resturant, very large menu, it’s sort of tapas style by the way you order smaller dishes. I ordered 3 to begin but the service is fast so don’t be afraid to start small and just keeping ordering more as you go. I went a bit overboard starting with 3, then another 3 and then added a dessert.

Large part of the menu is fungus and mushroom based, lots of things my British self hadn’t come across but they also have more western familiar dishes as well such as a beyond meat burger.

My order included

Shredded bamboo snow fungus in sweet and sour sauce - simple and effective

Pan fried “egg” with seasonal flowers - very nice

Hedgehog fungus kebab - really enjoyed this

Orange jelly fungus tempura - not for me

Linguine with pistachio sauce - nice but I was getting full

Coo-Lao “meat” - tasty

Goma-pudding with coconut milk - enjoyed it but wanted the sold out cheesecake

Pros: Choices - Eastern and Western items , Staff friendly and basic English skills , Accepted VISA payment

Excellent

Everything about this place is upscale, except the price which is a bit high for china but more than reasonable globally. Dishes are in the 40-70rmb range.
Service is excellent

Nice modern place

Nice and modern little restaurant that serves a mix of Chinese and western food. Some of the food is on the slightly fancier side without being fine dining. The food was a bit bland compared to what I was used to in China but otherwise good.

The staff was extremely friendly and tended to us well. The waiter that served us spoke good English, was very helpful and made the experience very pleasant.

I think this is a good place to go for a nice meal with a friend or for those looking for western food. However, it was very busy when we went there so if you want to be sure to get a table you might have to book in advance.

Exceptional food and service!

We arrived in time for the start of the lunch slot at 11:30 on a Friday and it's a good job we did as the place was full within about 15 mins.. a testament to its excellence!

The menu here is huge and the diversity of dishes is really exciting but also a little overwhelming. It took us a while to decide! I was thrilled to see so many different mushroom based dishes and a handy flavour profile for each dish. We ordered the hedgehog fungus kebab, the tofu pot, Coo Lao meat, the dai chicken and the durian balls between two and it was the perfect amount. Not only was it delicious, but also visually stunning! Food was served as prepared and was extremely efficient. Wait staff were very helpful and attentive. The price is extremely reasonable for the high quality ingredients and service! I would definitely visit again if I'm ever back in Shanghai.
