Unique experience - Edit
High-end cuisine, with great dishes, ambient and drinks.

Disappointed - Edit
My expectations were very high before coming to Vaxthuset. It’s presented as high end restaurant but I don’t think it’s fulfilling requirements for high end restaurants.
Read moreFirst of all I would like to say that I love the concept. Building under the bridge, next to the night club. I loved the entrance. But the vibe was very weird because we were the only table in the room.
Food was… okay. We loved 2 dishes but the rest of the 7 course menu was edible. The presentation was very nice, everything looked delicious. Dishes lacked flavour. Some dishes were unbalanced. Pea soup with some wine which was supposed to balance flavours. It felt like I am eating green wine with spoon. Most of the dishes had one flavour which was standing out and that’s it. Simple. Portions were small, which I expected because of the “high end” description of the restaurant. I don’t include it in my overall rating.
Drinks were disaster. No taste, no garnish, nothing. Looked like pre bought cocktails from supermarket.
Servis was fine. Again I expected more.
We paid around 100€ for seven course menu plus one cocktail each. I don’t think it’s relevant price for what you get. I wouldn’t go back. Based on reviews I had very high expectations which weren’t fulfilled at all.

Fun and delicous - Edit
I had a really great time at Växthuset. I really enjoyed the chill vibe and waiter was really relaxed and not at all pretensious. We had the 7 course tasting menu and it was really an experience I would recommend. Complex flavours that really complemented each other. I’m usually a big eater and I felt almost too full so I do not agree with some other people that the portions wasn’t enough. The only downside is the location, it was hard to find and the club noise next door was a bit annoying. Overall it was a lovely evening and I recommend to try it at least once.

Truly unforgettable - Edit
It was a pleasure to book the 7-course tasting here for my husband’s birthday on a snowy February night.
Read moreFine dining is most exciting to me when it includes things I’ve never had before. All the ingredients here are obviously very fresh, local, and in-season. There were all sorts of wonderful dishes and I got to try things like sea buckthorn and lichen. The winter menu featured lots of warming, filling components like root vegetables and truffle sauces. The produce in Sweden is just amazing; you can truly understand why everyone loves salads here. Everything was creative and flavorful.
But we both agreed that our favorite was dessert (and my husband usually doesn’t care for sweets!) - the gooey pull-apart warm sticky buns and hazelnut ice cream. Both were just incredible. We left full and happy.
Pros: Incredible produce, Dishes highlight local ingredients, Creative and tasteful

Flavour experience! - Edit
Second time here now and I love it! In December they have a more wintery/christmassy themed menu (without it being those boring, typical Christmas flavours you find elsewhere in town). Every dish we tried was amazing and the wine pairing with is just perfect. Would recommend to anyone, 10/10!

Nice experience in a cool spot - Edit
The space is really fun and kitschy—it’s also a nightclub as it gets later—and the restaurant is made of small pockets for tables. It’s not a swanky space which is a fun contrast to the fancy meal. I enjoyed being in a place with a kind of funky vibe while eating such well-curated food.
Read moreThe meal was wonderful with a lot of good dishes and a few standout ones. Nothing disappointed at all and some things were truly outrageous. This restaurant is pushing envelopes and while I can see how that experimentation might fall short for some diners, I found it to be a lot of fun. The meal felt like a modern take on Scandinavian cooking, with a lot of cool local ingredients.
We did not do the wine pairing. Instead I had a cocktail to start (excellent and a very nice bottle of wine that I chose to go with the meal.
I enjoyed having a multi-course fine dining experience that didn’t leave me overly stuffed at the end. I found it to be very well portioned.

Expensive but worth every penny - Edit
We opted for the 7 course menu.
Read moreEach course was described with enthusiasm and in great detail (well done to Anton on his excellent use of the English language). He also injected some personal thoughts and humour into the evening which added to our enjoyable dining experience.
Difficult to choose the best dish but top 3 included the chanterelle mushroom broth, the beetroot flower and the broccolini dishes.
The most expensive meal I’ve paid for but would definitely come again!
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Nothing

Jag återkommer varje sommar för upplevelsen att äta på den här restaurangen. Rätterna är spännande och kreativa och man kan köpa ett vinpaket där alla viner är passande för rätten man äter.

Disappointed, one of the worst $200 meals I’ve ever had - Edit
Seven course tasting menu, three of the courses were decent. The loud night club right next door is also inside the restaurant on weekends so there is an odd and unpleasant smell. Wine paring was particularly abysmal—multiple orange fruit wines and a sparking red! Have you ever even heard of a sparkling red? Undrinkable.

Enjoyable tasting menu - Edit
We went for the 7 course tasting menu and weren’t disappointed! The dishes were pretty inventive, with the hash brown being the clear winner for us (we’d have happily eaten a further portion each). The dessert was fab also. We enjoyed a lovely Slovenian orange wine with the meal. The only downside was the negroni my partner ordered (he was pretty disappointed); my apple cocktail was perfectly balanced between tart & sweet. Overall cost was reasonable.

Slightly disappointed - Edit
I don’t know of any other dedicated plant-based fine dining spot, so I’ve always enjoyed coming here. The last visit, though, left some lasting disappointments.
Read moreThe staff was down to one waiter, which might be why the service felt incredibly impersonal. At a spot like this, one could expect to be asked for top-ups of drinks or other checkins. None of that here and you had to be quick to catch the waiter in order to get a refill.
Perhaps worse is that I suspect some of the dishes should have warmer than they were, but had cooled off considerably. I can’t say for certain, but I did get that impression.

Disappointing, but has potential to be better - Edit
I agree with a previous review: the presentation was beautiful, but the flavor was lacking. We had the 7-course meal. The setting is beautiful, and we had a great time during our visit. But I would unfortunately not pay full price for this menu.
Read moreThe pre-dinner bean spread with truffle was superb, would love to make it at home. Also the dessert was lovely and so was the pickle. The rest of the dishes was meh, too tasteless. I really, really wanted to love it, but in summary: 2 out of 7 dished was worth it.
I think Växthuset has potential but I can't give a higher rating than 3/5.

Fantastic course meal - Edit
The menu is short: either a 7-course or a 5-course meal + drinks.
Read moreThe dishes were small but overall it amounts to a good quantity and good quality food.
The restaurant is located right next to a club, so while the sound is not loud, it may not be the quietest place.
Be sure to book a table in advance (the menu is shared on their social media)!
Pros: good food, dining experience

Vaxthuset - Edit
We got the full tasting menu and we were really disappointed. While the presentation was beautiful, the flavor was really lacking. Not to mention, the portions were so small we had to go to another restaurant immediately after leaving this place. For reference, I am a 98lb (~45kg) woman…and this was not enough food for me. Moreover, this is an odd venue for a “high-end” restaurant and it could have been kept up better (even the power plugs were cracked/broken…can’t they replace them?). The bathrooms had signs on each stall saying “only one person in each stall at all times please”. What goes on here? I don’t want to know. I wouldn’t call this a high-end restaurant. Even the service was not comparable to other high-end places I’ve been. I wouldn’t eat here again.

Växthuset is a beautiful place „unter the bridge“ with very exceptional food - we both had to admit that we‘ve never eaten anything better. Big plus: After eating, you get free entrance to a popular party spot right outside (trädgården).

Vaxthuset is an amazing and unique experience for plant based cuisine. It is at an upper level of culinary art from the plating to the flavors. We opted for the full 7 course menu, but there is also a smaller 5 course chef's choice option. We also enjoyed the alcohol free beverage pairing -- it was incredibly well done.

Fancy fine dining goes vegan - Edit
It is rare to find fine dining experiences like this if you are vegetarian and even harder as a vegan. But this not only gives you that it does so very very well and it is relatively affordable as well. It is expensive but as far as this kind of eclectic, creative and unique fine dining goes it feels affordable.
Read moreI've eaten here a few times now and every time has been an interesting journey full of surprising discoveries.
Not every dish is all that great, sometimes some are just ok. But there is always something that is just fantastically great and unique and everything is interesting.
Highly recommended.

Vegan Fine Dining in an eclectic space - Edit
Vegan fine dining restaurant with several options for a price-fixe menu. I was visiting Stockholm on a business trip with my partner and made a pilgrimage here based on the online reviews. We went for the little menu, having had a large meal earlier. We had a deconstructed salad which was pretty good, zucchini four ways which was just alright (some of them were excellent, but some could use more flavor), and a raspberry ice cream dessert which was incredible. Definitely our favorite thing there. Overall I wasn’t wowed but had some pretty solid food. Our server was very sweet and animated, and we were treated to some beautiful music from symphony orchestra at the performance venue next door. Funnily enough I was at the venue the night before for a work party, that place is VERSATILE! It can go from nightclub to classical venue like NOTHING! I feel bad for whoever was eating at Vaxthuset the night before and had to hear our karaoke…
