Nice, but i don’t know about the baklava - Edit
I had a schwarma wrap. It was good. We got baklava while we waited for our food. The menu said it was vegan. But when I asked about it, they told me it contained ghee.

Pita bread too thin - Edit
When I came here it was noticeably busier than when I visited their other location in North City.
Read moreThe food is the same, but the service suffers from it. The staff seemed stressed.
I had the Cauliflower pita, which tasted alright, but the bread was way too thin which meant that the pita was disintegrating in my hands before I could finish eating it.

No longer my favourite restaurant ever - Edit
UPDATED review from original (see below):
Read moreAs you can see, Umi used to be my favourite restaurant, however over the last few years there has been a significant reduction in the quality of their food, it's become a lot blander tasting, and while I understand that inflation has been through the roof, I don't appreciate that the portion sizes have gotten so much smaller as opposed to increasing the prices, because it's not transparent with customers. The main thing is the lack of consistency, sometimes you'll get a great meal with generous portions and other times you'll get something much smaller that's fairly tasteless. It feels like the spirit of the restaurant has been overridden with the prioritisation of profit over quality.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: Discovered Umi over 5 years ago and to this day it's still my favourite restaurant in Dublin. In fact, writing this review made me want to order Umi for lunch right now. Seriously good quality food for amazing prices (for Dublin), the portion sizes are great and there's a good variety. My favourite right now is the palestinian falafel with batata hara but I can recomment the fattoush salad, lentil soup, and their feast for two as well. The baklawa dessert is really nice but it can be a bit heavy so I'd recommend either sharing between two or prepare to save some for the next day (it still tastes great the day after)

Tasty - Edit
I ordered the plant based shawarma in a pocket, and it was tasty.
Read moreThey recommended i chose the wrap, as it presumably comes with more filling; but i wanted the pocket.
It contains a bit of salad, chicken bites and a began spicy mayo.
It was good, but IMO their falafel is better.

Sad wrap - Edit
I had the vegan schwarma and is was a disappointment. I had it as a wrap and they didn’t even bother to close it up so everything fell out when I tried to eat it. The filling was vegan chicken pieces, salad and a burger style sauce. Not a lot of filling either. But at least they had vegan options.

Solid - Edit
Umi is a good spot and I always try to support the fully vegan/vegetarian places in town before anywhere else. Relatively affordable too. It's not my favourite, but I still come from time to time. Food is always good. Warm staff and nice to eat in. If you're looking for some falafel and hummus do come here before somewhere else that offers meat products.

Buonissima bowl che puoi comporti come vuoi con base di riso, vari tipi di insalate mediorientali, verdure, hummus e proteine veg. Il locale è tutto vegetariano/vegano, ben decorato e pulito, a due passi dal castello di dublino. Davvero consigliato!!

Cork is better - Edit
I was so disappointed that Umi let me down in Dublin when it's been so reliable in Cork. To be fair, I did switch from my go-to Palestinian falafel to try the plant-based shawarma, which I found untasty and too spicy. I also tried the mint lemonade which was 99% mint and just tasted odd. As I was still hungry after the shawarma I ordered the batata harra (which I usually get with the Palestinian falafel in the meal deal) and found that this too somehow didn't taste good. Prices are higher here than in Cork too. I would be hesitant to return here.

Excellent place for a quick bite - Edit
So many vegan options to choose from - the "v" on the menu was vegan😄For mains, there's a vegan burger, falafel wrap, or plant based shawarma.
Read moreI went shawarma and it was very tasty indeed. Plant based chick*n with lots of tasty veggies and sauce.
Only downside was because it was so popular it was pretty noisy, on a Saturday evening, we struggled to hear each other so didn't stay in for long.
Very good food makes it worth it.
Would definitely go back.

Umi, we love you - Edit
My partner and I work in the city centre and eat at at Umi at least once a week. We cannot stay away from the Palestinian falafel, I'd easily eat it every single day for lunch 😂 the staff are lovely and the place is always packed out because it's popular but we've always managed to get a table. Love you, Umi xoxo

This restaurant should be called Yu-Umi Falafel - Edit
We tried this restaurant during ou visit of Dublin. A really good meal we had here ! Different types of falafel sandwiches, mezzes, salads, all home-cooked and perfectly seasoned. We took the Palestinian sandwich with a lentil soup that was excellent ! Also took the Baba ganoush which was delicious.

decent but junky tasting - Edit
at first bite I was very impressed with the baba ganoush. the pitta was really nice that came with it! I also got the palestinian pitta/sandwich and it was ok but a bit salty. the falafel and pickles overwhelmed any other flavours in there which I was disappointed by as I prefer simple/fresh food that doesn’t taste too processed
Read morePros: plenty of vegan options, lovely pitta
