Very cute western like place. - Edit
Very cute, small, cozy and western like restaurant with mexican-american cuisine. It is located in basement of the Building (B1). The staff is super kind, english speaking and knows what vegan means. Super relaxed living room like atmosphere.
Read moreAs a starter I had chicken style tofu and vegan chilli cheese quesadilla. As a main I tried vegan black bean vegetable enchilada. Everything was delicious.
Perfect spot if you crave for other cuisine than japanese.

Takes crypto payments :-D - Edit
Tons of vegan options on the menu, so it is really easy to come here and enjoy the place. The owner is so cool and chill and I really enjoyed talking to her. Her artwork is hanging on the walls, and this is such a unique place. This restaurant has a history of doing a lot of vegan events for over 15 years.
Read moreThe vegan dishes/plates are lovely and chefs put a lot of love and energy into the food. I was amazed that the plate had so much food, so that was very appreciated.
If you have a hard time finding this place, you have to go down the stairs of the building to locate the entrance.

Delicious Californian Mexican food in cosy relaxed atmosphere - Edit
We went to the Pink Cow on my first night in Tokyo. It was the perfect choice. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere, colourful decor, friendly and helpful staff. We had potato wedges, vegan fried chicken, aubergine on Crostini and Chimichangas. Everything was full of flavour - the wedges were really well spiced with great aioli. Portion sizes were just right. Several craft beers on tap incl Yo-Ho brewery.

perhaps the hippest place in tokyo!!! - Edit
this is a setting i’d expect to find in san diego (OB) or asbury park, yet even better than i’ve ever found in either of those hip locations. it’s a small lounge with a comfortable feel. rather than going with a burrito or enchilada, which I now regret although entirely happy, I opted for small plate options such as eggplant and french fries. I certainly will make a return visit on my next trip to tokyo!

Cozy vegan friendly place for relaxed evenings - Edit
The new Akasaka venue is smaller, but cutier and cosier than the previous Roppongi one. It would be perfect with windows, but the underground location makes this impossible.
Read moreApart from that, the food I tried during a vegan meetup event was good to great across the board. I especially loved the bean salad, the guacamole, the stir-fried vegetables dishes, and the banana cake.
Recommended, especially for those great vegan meetups!
Pros: Cute, Good food, Great vegan events!
Cons: A bit expensive., No windows.

bad experience - Edit
I went once to their old location in Roppongi for a party. The building they used to be in was old and run-down and the vegetarian food seemed really meat-like, but I told myself I was just being paranoid.
Read moreSince they moved to Akasaka, I thought I'd try again. I went and their new building seemed quite run-down and depressing. Still, the inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated. It was nice that the drinks offered with lunch were only 100 yen, even if there were only soft drinks and black coffee.
I ordered a vegan chimichanga lunch set, and again, I was confused. It had really realistic cheese in it- spoke to the waiter after eating half- and he apparently thought I ordered a "beef" chimichanga instead of a "vegan" one. Was so disappointed and felt so sick. I don't know if my Japanese pronunciation was too poor, but I pointed to what I wanted in the menu and could have sworn he repeated it back.
I paid quickly and then left feeling nauseated and disappointed.
I think the menu could be redesigned as the type is so small that even when you're pointing at the word "vegan," apparently the waitstaff can't tell.
Would not, ever, ever return. I prefer Kyushu Jangara Ramen down the street where the vegan option is printed separately on the menu so there's no chance of making an ordering mistake.
Pros: restaurant interior nicely decorated, lunch set drinks are cheap
Cons: was mistakenly served beef

No longer accept bitcoin - Edit
The main reasons we went to this restaurant were that (1) they are vegan-friendly and (2) they accept bitcoin. Sadly, they told me that they no longer accept bitcoin for payment and it seems the bitcoin ATM is gone too. They are still vegan-friendly though.
Read moreThe service was pretty good and it is a good place to go if you have a mixed vegan/omnivore crowd. If your party is all-vegetarian or vegan, there are better places to go.
Food is a bit pricy for what you get (e.g. 1600 yen burrito) but not totally outrageous and reasonably tasty.
Pros: Vegan-friendly menu with items clearly marked, Tasty food
Cons: Pricey, Kitchen seemed a bit slow

Make sure you specify that you're vegan! - Edit
I've eaten at the Pink Cow twice, before becoming a vegan and recently after making the transition. The first time I went, I had the samosa burrito, which was absolutely incredible. The price is right for the size of the food and atmosphere. I went again recently and ordered the taco salad with a friend, which is labeled on the menu as "vegetarian and vegan ok." I didn't specify when I ordered because I wrongly assumed that the dish would be vegan. Unfortunately, it came with cheese on it. The staff was totally understanding and kind when I explained my misunderstanding and promptly made another dish for me and replaced my silverware. My vegetarian friend could finish the non-vegan salad for me so it wasn't that big of a deal. The food is incredible, just please specify that you want the dish to be vegan even if it doesn't prompt you to on the menu!

Good restaurant, bad neighbourhood - Edit
When in Roppongi, the Happy Cow always recommends the Pink Cow as the place to go. But when I went there, it looked rather uninviting. It's located below street level in a dark shady ally. It's surrounded by drinking establishments which aren't exactly my thing. In fact, the whole neighbourhood looks dodgy. The fact that the Pink Cow also serves meat doesn't help either. So I never decided to actually eat at the Pink Cow.
Read moreThis changed when I was invited by a vegan society in Tokyo which has its monthly dinner at the Pink Cow. And again things looked rather unattractive. At the door a perfectly rude American man collecting entrances fees made it very clear that he felt vastly superior to the Japanese. He didn't want to stick to the Japanese customs, rules or regulations and did everything the American way. Still, I paid him to be allowed in to the vegan meeting.
The theme this month was "Cinco de Mayo", so vegan Mexican food was being served. And after one bite my opinion about the Pink Cow changed. The food was wonderful and the chef really knows how to make vegan food taste right! The buffet offered a huge variety of flavours and just about every traditional Mexican dish was available in vegan style. Never did the chef use too much oil or fat to create the taste, so it was healthy as well. Even the dessert was great!
On the way back home, late in the evening the "watering holes" nearby seemed to attract an even worse crowd than before (there was even a fight on the street). It's a shame that such a great restaurant is surrounded by such bad people both inside and out, otherwise I would certainly be a regular at the Pink Cow.
Pros: good food, monthly vegan meetup!
Cons: bad neighbourhood, bad atmosphere, rude American personnel

I Love The Buffet Event ♥ - Edit
Once a month the Tokyo vegan meetup do a fully vegan buffet here. The food is amazing and there's really good variety, and it's a good chance to meet others. It gets booked up pretty quickly though!

Cons: Not Fully Vegan On Other Days of Course ;(
