Perfect! - Edit
The Cornish Vegan is a lovely cafe in Truro. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful - we asked to take away scones and they packed the scones up and even wrote instructions on how to cook them. Not to mention the food was delicious, with an expansive menu ranging from healthy superfood Buddha bowls to “fish” and chips. The TLT was delicious, I loved the smoked tofu. The cafe really has a lovely homely feel about it. Even the “butter” is homemade! And there are a wide range of indulgent cakes, plus raw ones.

Amazing place - Edit
We are holidaying in Cornwall and made a special trip to Truro to try this place, it didn’t disappoint! Hot choc with marshmallows was gorgeous, I loved the flavours in the Buddha bowl and my raw tiramisu was to die for! Husband loved the fish and chips and children were happy with their food too. Wish this was closer to home!

Great Place - Edit
Visited for the first time November 2017. This place had a great choice on their menu! They were very helpful & accommodating in making a few changes to the dish I’d chosen as I can’t eat gluten or soy. Me & my Mum both had their BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich (well I had it as a salad) hand-cut fries with homemade tomato sauce.

Would visit again!

Wonderful food and relaxed atmosphere - Edit
It has all been said previously by other reviewers but our first visit was certainly memorable. A fantastic selection of salads and cakes, even a cream tea advertised, what a wonderful place. We live in Devon but will make a point of visiting The Cornish Vegan next time we are in Cornwall.

Vegan heaven! - Edit
So many purely vegan restaurants go for ‘junk’ vegan food - not this one! Delicious, wholesome, entirely homemade yum food. Every mouthful here was a taste sensation. Dog friendly. Sparkling clean and the friendliest hosts - will travel to Truro just to go there!! Very reasonably priced.

sausage roll! - Edit
Lovely atmosphere in a great area of Cornwall... the sausage roll had the best vegan sausages I’ve ever had! Reasonably priced, all mains either £6 or £6.50 I think. Though -1 star because my husband ordered the vegetable humous wrap, and it had barely any humous in it! Just raw veggies in a wrap. Otherwise, amazing place and lovely staff.

The best vegan “chickin” I’ve ever had.. - Edit
..and I have had a fair bit. The cafe is really lovely and cute but a really robust menu of both healthy and “junkie” food so whatever you’re into they have. I also had cake from here and it was divine with a huge array of choice. Their drinks menu is also A1. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic - Edit
Welcoming and wonderful cafe with the best chicken biscuit y'all will ever taste! Fantastic chickpea soup and bread, and spoilt for choice for pudding. The chocolate brownie was delicious! My pal Milly had an insanely good salad with chicken strips and hummus, and a beautiful caramel chocolate cake that just slid down. Can't wait to come back for round two.

Great vegan food, especially cake! - Edit
I visited The Cornish Vegan with my partner while on holiday and we were not disappointed after reading great past reviews. I found it really difficult to choose what to eat as everything sounded great. I went for the jackfruit pulled burger which I can highly recommend! Messy but great! My partner has a massive Buddha bowl of great salads etc. We couldn't decide on which puddings so we had three cakes between the two of us! All very yummy!

A year on here's my review - Edit
I've waited a year to write this review, so this is nothing hasty but is the result of many meals and good experiences. (It's hard work but hey, someone has to do it :))
Read more"The Cornish Vegan" is my local vegan restaurant. . Paul and Dawn took over premises which had previously been a vegetarian eatery for many years, under many different names.
Truro, the capital city of Cornwall, was ready for a vegan eatery as the choices at vegetarian friendly eateries could be, at times, a bit hit and miss.
If you've never been to a vegan run cafe you'll appreciate the large and varied selection AND not having to ask 'is it suitable for vegans?' ...then wait whilst the staff go to check. (surely they should know?)
Save yourself that bother and just take a look at the menu, it's ALL vegan. EVERYTHING. Do you know how liberating that feels? To not be looked at by staff like you've got an extra head, or just being 'fussy'. Here, you're normal, but that doesn't mean you aren't treated like you're special. On the contrary, Dawn (co owner) is there to ensure it's alright for you.
Favourite dishes on the menu include the Lentil, mushroom & walnut burger, The Cornish Vegan ‘Chickin’ Sandwich, BBQ Jackfruit, “TLT” Sandwich, and the Fry Up breakfast.
Sit yourself down, order a drink and then _try_ to decide what you're going to have. Seriously; you're spoiled for choice. If there's a few of you going for different dishes you'll be dipping in to try your friends food. Who can resist? As well as they're own items they also stock cakes from The Little Green Bakery, and also raw cakes/desserts and juices from Pura Pressed.
Eat here and you're also supporting other local vegan friendly biz.
The interior is bright, plenty of windows, and comfortable, but it can sometimes get a bit crowded fairly quickly. Check out the paintings and artwork on the walls, and help yourself to information & leaflets by the door. (pro tip: The Cornwall Vegans guide to Vegan Cornwall is a good starter for visitors to Kernow).
Well behaved dogs are welcome, as are kids.
Free wifi is a bonus too for those of us who like to photograph and post to social media vegan food we've had the pleasure to eat. You can find some of these on my Instagram: www.instagram.com/cornwallcats
Check out their website at thecornishvegan.com

The TL;DR: visit, eat, enjoy and come again. And whilst you're here you can always stock up at Archie Brown's, the veg*n friendly store across the road.
Pros: ALL vegan menu, A lovely outdoor seated area, Great selection of raw foods
Cons: Can sometimes get busy, It's a small venue so noise carries

Hopefully a bright future - Edit
Had a fantastic meal here with my family (wife and young son).
Read moreThe menu had a great selection of options and I think there's something for everybody here. Portions were a good size, food was tasty and well seasoned (The BBQ Jackfruit roll was excellent - probably the best I've tried), and their homebrew Chickin' was fantastic - make sure you chuck a Chickin' biscuit onto your order!
That said - and this is more a word of caution than an issue, so please bear in mind - it does have a number of the hallmarks of a small vegan eatery getting off the ground. It's not open in the evenings and is obviously still tinkering with it's menu and opening hours (judging by adverts for their roast dinners and all day breakfast).
These aren't things we haven't encountered before and they didn't affect our enjoyment, but I feel it's important to highlight to manage expectations if you're making a visit specially - which I would definitely recommend you do!
Pros: Excellent food, Friendly Staff, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Unusual opening times.

Great lunch - Edit
We have been wanting to visit The Cornish Vegan since it opened in September 2016, so it was with great anticipation that we called in for lunch, and weren't disappointed. The restaurant is welcoming, with pleasant background music and decor. We chose a table near the window in the smaller section of the restaurant. The lunch menu had a good variety of different meals, from soup and salads to burgers and fries, with cake and various drinks available too. We chose the the sausage roll (homemade vegan sausage and sautéed onions in a Baker Tom's ciabatta bread roll), a TLT (tofu, lettuce and tomato sandwich with mayo, made with Baker Tom's sourdough bread) and The Cornish Vegan burger (lentil, mushroom and walnut burger in a Baker Tom's bread roll and salad). All were delicious and filling, accompanied by Fentiman's Curiosity Cola and a jug of water, that was brought to our table as we were perusing the menu. As we were too full to try any cake, we will be sure to return to sample these, and would like to visit there for dinner too. I thought the meal was good value and similar in price to other vegan food restaurants.

Little Gem - Edit
As vegetarians visiting Truro we were pleased to find this cafe [censored] restaurant on Happy Cow. It has only been open for a month so no reviews to go on so we took a chance. We were not disappointed there was a friendly welcome as we entered and a reasonable choice of dishes. As it was Sunday we had the vegan roast dinner which was well presented and very tasty. We were too full for a second course but brought a sweet to eat later..
