A Suburban Secret

Tucked discreetly away down an unassuming backstreet, sequestered amongst the local villas, this truly is a hidden gem in the heart of Jumeriah 1. Even when I finally happened upon the right place, I was still surprised to see the tranquil oasis that lay before me.
Inside, a cool calmness is evident as soon as you enter through the door, and the bright, cheerful, helpful staff do nothing but enhance this feeling further. After a long, arduous debate with myself, I finally landed on the many things that I wanted to sample and took up position on the patio to make the most of the excellent outside space.
First to arrive was the assortment of beverages, and I don’t mind telling you that no sooner had the two smoothies hit the table, the intoxicatingly vanilla Little Bean and it sumptuous Snickers, they were inhaled: both outstanding. (I must add, the coffee was no slouch either.) Next, the food. Having opted for two sandwiches, both cheese-based, I was expecting good, if not spectacular things, and I had anticipated that they would be quite equal in terms of what they had to offer. I couldn’t have been more wrong; both were fantastic, but for entirely different reasons. While the tomato option had wonderfully clean, refreshing flavours, the pumpkin pesto variation was big, bold and beautiful. It wasn’t all dizzying highlights though, the cookies that acted as dessert were pleasantly soft, but a touch dry and lacking in any real intensity.
Biscuit bugbears aside, I thoroughly enjoyed not only the food, but the venue as a whole, and I will be back for more.
