A simple Buddhist vegan restaurant located at the base of the iconic ‘Big Buddha’ on Koh Samui, this is a basic vegan buffet (with a-la-carte options), offering food, juices and vegan cooking classes. The restaurant backs out onto the ocean, giving views of Koh Phangan from afar. Access by going under the main gate to the Big Buddha, drive on to the island and it is inside, to the right of the temple steps. Please call and book for cooking classes. Open Mon-Sun 8:00am-5:00pm.

Delicious Food and Gorgeous Sea View! - Edit
Had the pad Thai and spring rolls - both were very yummy. The Pad Thai was more like a sweet and sour noodle dish than I’m used to for Pad Thai, but it was great. Very kind woman, one of whom greeted me with, “Ready for Vegan food?!” Which I loved haha. OH and the view! Wow!

To the right a few shops before the entrance to the Big Buddha. Front of store looks like gift shop but lady cooks fresh dishes by order in back. Look for big yellow red Jay (Vegan) sign (looks like number 17). We arrived at 3 and enjoyed vegan duck, noodles, french fries and spring rolls and two water. "Duck" had lovely veg in a coconut, kaffir sauce.

Read moreThe pre-cooked food looked pretty old by the time we arrived at 1pm - possibly cooked the day before? - so we ordered from the menu. The food was simple but quite good but also quite small, and at 80tbh for a small plate (we had 3 between us) it was 240tbh for a basic lunch which wasn’t great value.

We are always excited when there's a vegan restaurant and we're looking forward to tamachat...we got there late in the day around 4pm...you get a bowl of hot rice and then your choice from the buffet options that day...around 6 different dishes. They all tasted quite good but everything was cold except for the rice...I would say get there early in the day when all the food is hot.

The location pin isn't set correctly, so we almost didn't find the place. It's where the big Buddha is, more near the sea. You have to walk a bit around to find it. Nice lady, food is good and the view is amazing.
