Delicious comfort food - Edit
Delicious and inventive. The Mushroom Shawarma was the perfect texture and flavor. The hummus and falafel was really good as well. I will definitely be ordering from Shouk again.

Way too salty - Edit
I've eaten at Shouk and ordered online quite a few times since they opened. And I used to like it. But it always has been on the salty side. And the last time I ate there, in late October, when I had the Shouk'n Caesar Salad, which was my favorite since they introduced it, the lettuce was wilted, and the dressing and mushrooms were way too salty. I could barely eat it. All I could think of is that I wouldn't bring anyone watching their sodium here. And I probably won't be back for a while because of this.

Good portions, great flavors - Edit
We ordered the jackfruit and the mushroom pitas with the spiced fries with harrisa Mayo, schug, and shouk sauce. The pitas were stuffed full, a great amount of sauce, veggies and the jackfruit and mushrooms. Everything was well seasoned.

Best food I've had in a while - Edit
After a string of disappointing vegan options on a trip to NY, I got shouk right after getting off the bus. I don't normally post reviews, but... Easily the best bbq jack fruit I've ever had, and from the sample I had of their shouk'n (which they gave me for free, just because I showed some curiosity) that's gotta be on top of the list for chicken replacements just on their spice blend alone (and I love mushrooms, so that's a plus). I will definitely be going back soon, and look forward to the new locations opening.

Okay - Edit
I didn’t have the best experience there. The wait time to order was long. I had a hummus bowl that had way too much oil in it and not much flavor and only came with one pita bread so there was a ton of hummus leftover with nothing to go with it. Anyway, maybe I’ll try it again in the future.

Amazing Lentil Soup!! - Edit
I ordered the barbecue jackfruit pita, I wasn’t a huge fan but looking back I probably just made the wrong choice. The shouk nuggets were delicious, we asked for hot sauce and the hot sauce was really good! The highlight of the meal was definitely the red lentil soup, it had excellent flavor and a perfect spice level.

Try Loving Hut or HipCity Veg - Edit
Service is prompt, but not eager to welcome you 2/5 stars. This is a sharp contrast to HipCity Veg because HipCity Veg, welcomes you with open arms, and all employees smile, and they even remembered our names. (See my reviews on hip-city veg and loving hut.)The flavor of shouks food is average because it lacks flavor and spice 2/5 stars. Presentation of Shouks food is 5/5 because it comes in a neat box. The dessert also lacked flavor. I am happy this place is here to serve us, and do give them a try but try Loving Hut first, then Hip city Veg.

My problem with the HCV on 7th Street is there's hardly any seating. But they are very friendly.

Vegan heaven - Edit
WOW. This place is incredible. We split the veggie burger pita and the mushroom pita with an order of hummus to slather on everything (highly recommend) and we’re in heaven. It was so well seasoned and cooked, the sauce was amazing, and everything tasted truly homemade. It was a ton of food for such reasonable prices. This is a must if you are in DC.

Healthy, quick, flavorful - Edit
Really enjoyed the pitas here. I got fried mushroom and mushroom shawarma, both were very good. Also got the spicy fries which were addictive! My only critique is that the mushroom shawarma was a little too salty. Otherwise very good!

I want to love Shouk, but it's way too salty - Edit
Shouk seems like a fantastic establishment. The people that work there seem cool and they care about forwarding the plant-based food movement. That said, the food is wayy too salty. I am amazed this isn't a common comment. I've gotten it 3 times and it has consistently been a problem. My gf and I have had to throw out a lot of the food because it was that much of a problem. The oyster mushroom chicken, the falafel, the burger, the cauliflower, it's all too salty. It would otherwise be great.

Seasoned to Perfection. - Edit
Entire menu is plant based which feels like freedom when placing an order. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried but my favorite has to be the Shawarma Hummus bowl. It’s seasoned to perfection and such a pleasure to eat. It’s quick, consistent and I’m happy to support this business. Check them out, you’ll be happy you did!

My fav vegan spot so far in DC! - Edit
I have ordered from here many times, both in person and using Caviar. Friendly staff and delicious food. Obviously would recommend the falafel sandwich, it’s better than the notorious “shouk burger” in my opinion!

I wish I could give them 6 Stars - Edit
The food definitely exceeded my expectations. We ordered the Shouk’n bowl with fries and a couple of deserts and we were beyond pleased. The Shouk’n bowl was seasoned very well and the portion size was more than enough!! The service was exceptional and for only being around for 4 years, I believe this restaurant will become a staple in the DC area very soon

The Shouk Burger! - Edit
This review would have been 5 stars but unfortunately my food was cold. I ordered the Shouk Burger and sweet potato fries. The Shouk burger was absolutely delicious even though cold. I can only imagine how mouth watering it is hot. I wouldn’t hesitate to return

Great food!! We loved 3/4 things we ordered; the eggplant burger was just okay. Their veggie burger, however, is amazing, pitas are fresh and delicious. We can’t wait to go back.
