Great Asian food at an affordable price - Edit
Super delicious food. They are large portions that taste authentic Chinese. Super nice waitresses. Tables and toilet were all super clean. We look forward to the next visit!

One of my favourites in Frankfurt - Edit
The food is delicious and the staff super nice and helpful. Has probably the biggest vegan authentic Chinese menu I’ve ever come across. After we discovered it, we came back multiple times and it’s really nice to sit outside in summer.

Inexpensive place, some dishes are fantastic like their vegan dumplings others just good. Make sure they get your order right, got meat dumplings once by accident which was a terrible thing

I expected some really oily junk food over here, nevertheless I wanted to check Sampan out, as they have a huge vegan menu and many faux meat dishes.
Read moreI had the veggie chicken sticks with peanut sauce (4,50€), boiled Gyoza with cabbage stuffing (4,80€) and a seaweed tofu soup (2,80€).
Everything was yummy and well balanced spiced, not overly greasy. Beside I enjoyed an almond tea (3,20€).
The Staff was friendly.
It‘s not super comfy inside, as it has more a grab and go atmosphere / snack place, but ok.

They have an extremely long, seperate vegan menu which I would rate five stars if I was allowed. The food with it's veggies and spices tastes just like the food I used to eat in China, which is not a usual thing in Germany.

We are very happy with this place: Great food, cooked in a Hong Kong way! The owner and staff are very friendly and we have made this our goto restaurant for several other reasons as well:
Read more- The food is very authentic and the dishes are like in Asia, not like in German Asian restaurants. They do change the seasoning a bit depending on who orders, but if you want the REAL taste, just ask ;)
- The variety of the vegan menu is huge! There is no shortage of things to try. I recommend the roasted pumpkin and the vegan "calamari". They also offer a seasonal extra menu and you can always just ask if you want some special vegetable. They are happy to suggest something not on the menu.
- Portions are quite large
- They do have fake meat dishes, but they also have a huge selection that doesn't contain anything fake. This is an appreciated difference to a lot of other restaurants.
Overall this gets 5 stars from me and is the best HK/Asian restaurant with vegan dishes in Frankfurt.

Separate vegan menu - Edit
I've been here a few times now and it's been great every time. The standard menu has a number of veggie and vegan items, but you can also get a separate vegan menu, with all sorts of faux-meat items, in addition to vegetable and tofu dishes. The owners are friendly and also clearly very knowledgeable about vegan food.
Read moreI've tried various dimsum and also a vegan faux-octopus dish. I think I definitely prefer tofu to fake octopus, but my meat-eating friends said it was bizarrely accurate.
The absolute best things was a vegan hotpot that I shared with 3 non-veg friends. We had a mountain of veggies, tofu and vegan dumplings and this delicious garlic dip on the side. I really don't know how we managed to eat everything, but the soup keeps getting tastier and tastier the more veggies you've cooked in it. You have to be prepared though: the hotpot requires a day's notice and is not available in summer.

If you are after some simple but filling asian food as a vegan, Sampan should be your best choice in Frankfurt. They have a full seperate vegan menu, with two pages dedicated to mock meats (duck, octopus, chicken, etc.) but also many other vegetable based dishes. I recommend their serpent-root dish, which tasted lovely.

As I learned during my visits, the lady of the house is full of energy and ideas - so she started cooking vegan food for a Buddhist temple in Frankfurt and added that experience and knowledge to the concept of the Restaurant.

Besides the many vegan options and the great taste, the understanding of my vegan needs is the main reason why I like Sampan.

Sampan used to be just another run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant serving large portions of unimpressive food at low prices for years. In 2015, though, management changed and brought about a new concept. Ever since then, they offer three different menus: standard, authentic Asian, and vegan.
Read moreWhile the portions are still large and rather inexpensive, Sampan is now seriously one of the best places to go to for vegans in Frankfurt's hip "Nordend" area: the vegan menu contains a wide variety of tofu, faux meat or purely vegetable based dishes; among them at least 20-30 main dishes. Best thing is, they all taste great. Yes, normally they use glutamate to enhance the flavor, but they will leave it out if you ask them to.
Service is fast and very friendly. Thus, a definite recommendation.

They have three different menus: Standard, authentic asian, vegan -> Normally they ask you, which one do you need, if not, ask for the vegan one.
Read moreIt's perfect, when you're open for fake meat, but there are also many dishes without it/without tofu at all. One of the staff members (the manager?) is very helpful and usually takes her time to answer your questions about the food and to explain, how it is made.
Sampan is also a good choice for lunch or dinner with non-vegan friends (mine usually are curious about the fake meat thing, but if they "need" eggs or meat, they can order something from the other non-vegan menus).
