Best pastry ever

Wow! This was absolutely the best place we ate at in all of Amsterdam! There was soooo much option to choose from, and every single thing we tried was delicious! We came back a second time, and we also visited their deli across the road, which was also incredible and delicious.
We tried their seasonal cruffin, which was pumpkin jam, super delicious.
We also tried the pain au chocolate, classic croissant, babka (INCREDIBLE), pistachio croissant… all of which were perfect.
Value for money I absolutely felt satisfied as everything was a great size and completely delicious.
We managed to get a seat on our second visit to sit and enjoy, but felt pressured by the huge queue of other guests wanting to sit in, so we ate fast and left quickly.
There could absolutely be more seating, and I think this would improve the overall experience. #Veganuary

Pros: Flakey pastry , Great range , Delicious coffee

Cons: Seating

There is an attempt at a Leeds version of this now in burley road. It’s called chunk, listed as cookie chunk on here.

Actually saint Jean has slowly reduced the seating over the last year.

Nice, but too successful…

They have great coffee and even greater food. The almond croissants are to die for and the pistachio cruffin is heavenly. I have been here twice, the first time I could sit down inside, but they have very limited seasting so the second time I had to drink my coffee and eat my pastry on the steps of someone’s house…
I’m not going here anymore as it has become wayyyyyy too popular. Loving the fact that a vegan place is so popular, but it’s not for me anymore..

Pros: Mouthwatering pastries, Pretty interior design

Cons: Steep prices, Has become way too popular

Delicious sweets

The staff was very friendly, the shop is cute, sadly we couldn't sit down there since it's crowded. But we definitely know why now! We took the baked goods and a matcha latte and coffee to go and sat down on a nearby bench in the sun by the water. We enjoyed it to the fullest, it's made with love and tasted so good. All of this - and all of it vegan... A dream come true

Pros: Matcha latte, Friendly staff, Delicious pastries

Cons: Too full to sit down

Decent food / beautiful space

The croissant is above average. Limited seating and the hype make it a grab-and-go place.

REALLY good!!!

The croissants are amazing!
I’m usually not one for savory croissants but the cheese one is simply delicious 👌
I had a plain croissant with jam and it was delicious as well. #Veganuary

Very trendy place, nice pastry but too many people and not a good experience to enjoy the food

15 minutes (in a not so crazy hour) waiting in the cold to have a nice pastry and coffee/tea you'll have to eat in the cold again doesn't worth it. Pastries are good but not crazy good. The pistachio cruffing is very heavy, too much sugar, I wouldn't go back for it. There is only few seats and the prices are high.
So, nice products, cute place but you can't enjoy your breakfast here, the experience doesn't worth it as it's quite expensive as well.

Pros: Vegan pastries are quite good

Cons: Too crowded, waiting line for a bakery...?!, No seats, Pricey

Best vegan bakery I've been to

Amazing selection of truly great bakery foods. Particularly the Pistache Cruffin is a 10/10, but the other products are amazing as well. Definitely go here if you're in Amsterdam!

Pros: Amazingly tasteful food, Lots of (creative) options

Cons: Expensive, Might have to wait for a while because it's busy

Can't fault the food, just wish I could afford it!

This place is a dream of mine. I used to wander through Paris looking through patisserie windows at the cakes and pastries and fantasise about them being vegan! The reality is that now I no longer have a high income these kind of places have to be a rare luxury for me. (Probably a good thing for my waistline too).
They have a small seating area which annoyingly looks directly at a large table that is reserved for staff! Ridiculous. We only waited 10 mins to sit down and luckily got the corner space where all 4 of us could squeeze in, do not expect to be able to eat inside unless you have the patience of a martyr!
The pastries are without exception superb. Light, sweet but not sickeningly so, and scrumptious in texture.
I had my first ever cafe coffee with split pea milk which was very smooth and sexy.
I hope to return one day and find a fifty euro note on the floor as I approach and then feel able to enjoy the delights of this place without feeling too guilty or decadent!

Pros: An all vegan french style patisserie.!!!! , Perfect pastries

Cons: Very limited seating , a staff table sat empty!, Queues to get in!, Expensive.

Delicious treats

Amazing selection of pastries. Everything is fresh and the flavours are worth exploring. Better to go early during the day if you want to make sure your favourites are not sold out.

Lovely place

I loved this place, such delicious pastries and everything is plant-based! I got a pastry filled with apple and the cappuccino also tasted really good! Bare in mind that this place is pretty popular and it’s small so it can get quite crowded and you might have to wait in the queue.

The BEST

Hands down the best vegan pastries I have ever had. The pistachio cruffin was especially good, perfect mix of sweet and salty and with a perfectly flaky exterior

Amazing!

We had the Chocolate Croissant and the Almond croissant. They were both amazing!

The lemonade was made from a syrup and would not recommend.

Across the street they have a savory cafe with more seating. The food there is pretty good too

Pros: Large selection, Aesthetic , Pastries

Cons: Lemonade

Wonderful

Tried the croissants with avocado, Mayo, tomatoes & spinach and it was divine. Best vegan croissant I’ve ever had, perfectly soft in the middle and with fresh, tasty ingredients and generous avocado! Also lovely girl at the counter. Cannot wait to come back.

Pros: €5 for filling tasting croissant, good cost, Really nice atmosphere and staff, Delicious food

Wish they were in England!

The pastries were amazing, we had the cruffins, cinnamon twist, pain au choc & almond croissant. They were cooked to perfection, super crispy and really tasty. There is hardly any seating and it’s always so busy so you will have to wait for a long time to sit and eat. Which is such a shame. We had to eat them on a bench in the rain, which wasn’t ideal.

Pros: Taste, Branding

Cons: Long queue, Not enough seating

Nice bakery. Mostly To-Go

They opened a second place on the other side of the street for their savoury stuff. We sat down at the savoury place and picked something up at their sweet place afterwards. They do not have a lot of seats. So expect to either wait or eat outside. The pieces we had were tasty but nothing to special. Also the labeling is a little confusing since some labes says plantbased and others don’t. The savoury place only has (V) markings on some stuff but not on everything.

Pros: Not many bakery’s to begin with

Cons: Amsterdam prices, Confusing labeling, Not a lot of space. Crowded

⭐️-Bakery!

The baked goods from Saint-Jean were so good, we came back on another day of our short trip to Amsterdam. We went a bit over the top and got basically one of every kind. One was better than the other, but nothing could top the pistachio cruffin. Boyfriend says the coffee was also very good.
We got a bit confused because there is a Saint-Jean Deli on the other side of the corner, which was not nearly as full as the bakery, but also has a good selection, mainly of savoury goods.

Maybe just not their day...?

Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed as we expected more due to the positive feedback. First we stood in a long queue, then when it was our turn, almost everything was out at 10.30 in the morning, service was uncoordinated and unfriendly. Unfortunately, even the food couldn't save the impression. Maybe just a bad day.

Perfect

Had the famous pistachio cruffinns, delicious but not overly sweet as most vegan pistachio pastries. Delicious. Eccellent also the oat cappuccino and the almond croissants.

Pros: Kind servers, High quality food , Everything vegan

Cons: Little pricy but worth it. (A'dam prices)

It was a roller coaster of emotions

When I read 'top restaurant' and 'bakery', I expect something like Lands and Monkeys, in Paris: huge variety. This was not the case and I was dissapointed.
I arrived at almost 09am in a tuesday. There was no line but also no seats. I took a regular croissant and a kind of cake to go (see pics), together with an americano coffee. The 3 itens costed 10.5 euros (card only).
I'm giving it 5 stars because the pastries I had were super well executed. The croissant is very 'puffy', 'crispy', like a croissant with regular butter would be. It's way better than the one I had in Lands and Monkeys. The cake looked pretty simple, but it was not haha. Also super delicious.
So, although not a huge range of options, the options they have are more than enough. But as some others had said here, I don't think it's worth waiting 30 min on a line...

A must go for any vegan

This place has a very simple menu of pastries but they execute each one perfectly. Not a bad thing for sale here.

Okay, yeah, unreal

Crazy delicious, absolutely perfect pastries. We had the pistachio cruffin and the pesto cheese “escargot” swirl. Best pastries I’ve ever had. Coffee was also completely perfect, very well balanced and not too strong. No technical faults. Very good price, feels very worth it.

Only gripe is lack of seating but I think the gimmick here is that there is always a line. Consider it takeaway only.

Pros: Pastries! Huge selection , Coffee is perfect, Well priced

Cons: No seats!
