Lovely place - Edit
Such a cosy restaurant, owned by a passionate vegan woman.
Read moreThe food was visibly prepared with care and tasted excellent.
Similar to some other vegan restaurants where 1 person does everything, the whole place screams of their personality.
Ice cream is lovely.

You must visit this hidden gem in Nara! - Edit
This restaurant is a hidden gem, located on a quiet street a short walk away from the main sights in Nara. It's a great place to relax and wind down for lunch after a morning of exploring Nara Park. The ambience is very quiet, peaceful, and traditional. There's a small outdoor seating area. There is only one lady who doesn't speak English who runs the place, so service was a bit slow, but I enjoyed that it allowed time for relaxation.
Read moreYou MUST get the cutlet burger plate!! The burger patty itself was crispy and delicious, as was the burger bun (which kind of reminded me of the texture of steamed buns). It came with generous sides: green salad, pickles, potato salad, fried eggplant, vegetable tempura, spring roll, and a skewer of fried goodness (not sure what it was).
It was a bit pricey, but that's to be expected for a touristy area and it's totally worth it for the tasty food and peaceful experience. Please note that they accept cash only.

One woman show with a love for cats! - Edit
This was one of my favourite spots in Japan—a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Nara. It’s a small, cozy café run by a single woman with a love for cats.
Read moreThe fully vegan menu was fantastic, and our meals were perfect—no complaints at all.
Since it’s a one-woman operation, arriving early is best, or be prepared for a wait.
The café is cash only. If you have any spare change, consider donating to the collection box near the register, which supports a cat rescue.

Happy Cow states this cafe is closed but my partner and I were so hungry we decided to inspect. We were so glad we did because it was a great experience.

Amazing - Edit
Such an incredible meal at Ramona. The vegan karaage was out of this world good and the vegan burger plate was right up there with it. Wish I was staying longer, would come back in a heart beat! The owner/chef provided kind, swift service. The space was so cozy and inviting. Highly recommend for vegans/non-vegans alike.

Arrive early for this unique lunch experience! - Edit
I arrived about 5 minutes early on a Monday and was the first to arrive, but by opening time at 1pm a small line was beginning to form. Highly recommend you arrive early as this is a walk-in only lunch spot.
Read moreVegan Cafe Ramona is run by one woman. There are about four tables inside and three small ones outside. Very homey inside with cute trinkets and cat decore.
We tried the Karage Bento Box and the Dan Dan Noodles. Both of which were delightful. The Karage Bento Box was my personal favorite—this is how a bento box should be!! Perfectly fried tofu and lightly fried vegetable tempura with some additional sides.
Please go and support this local vegan cafe!!

Expect to wait - Edit
The wait was comically long (1.5 hours for only 3 groups/5 people in front of me), but the food was great and the owner seems nice. In the end, I’m not sure if it was worth the wait.

Be patient and you’ll be rewarded - Edit
Be prepared to wait for service here as it is one lady doing it all! We came when the restaurant was fairly full of patrons already and waited 30-40min to be seated, a couple people joined waiting behind us but I think gave up and left - however, im glad we stayed! All up waiting be seated, order and food to be cooked took just over an hour, but it was a reminder to slow down and be patient. The food was absolutely lovely, such a personal touch on everything, freshly cooked and delicate.
Read moreWe had the karaage set, burger sets and Dan Dan noodles. Burger set was a highlight, so many elements to try and all delicious. You could tell how lovingly hand crafted each element was, and it’s a miracle how fast that one lady works to prepare it all!
In terms of ambience, it’s a beautiful and homely little place tucked away on side street, gorgeous dining area out the front and very cute interior with lots of cat decor (and two cute cats sitting out the back garden to top it all off)
Must visit destination when in Nara
Pros: Burger plate , Decor and ambience , Exceptional effort from owner
Cons: Long wait if you’re in a rush (though worth it!)

Great food - Edit
After visiting Nara Park we went here to have lunch. We ordered a meal and 2 sandwiches and it was really good. But plan for waiting time. The restaurant is run by only one person and that’s why you have to wait about 45 minutes to receive your meal. Anyways the food was great and the owner was really friendly. Loved the place.

One of the best meals I had in Japan - Edit
It's a small place run by a single person, so be prepared to wait a bit to be attended and served. The lady that runs the place is nice and I don't know how she is able to work so fast. When we arrived at opening time there were already around 7 people on queue, and we got our orders taken in like around half an hour and our food not very much after that.

There's also some desserts and pre-made food (like curry, ramen, etc.) that you can buy there.

Superbe petit restaurant - Edit

Tiny place very close to the Nara park. The owner does everything by herself, so don't go there if you are in a rush.

Everything was delicious.
The restaurant is small and filled with charm. You can tell the owner loves cats.
