A real treat

The first thing you notice is the colourful outside of the shop which really shines out in grotty Peckham High Street. Inside you're hit by a lovely spice smell in the shop area of Persepolis. The owner Sally really looks after you and is fully clued up about the vegan options of which there are plenty. I got the mezze so I could try several different things and we shared a few mains including some with tofu. It's all really reasonably priced. Be sure to leave room for the vegan knickerbocker glory.

Pros: Great atmosphere, Exciting range of food, Friendly staff

Cons: Very spicy plaintain tofu dish!!, Few tables - book ahead

You'd be crazy to miss their sundaes

This Persian corner shop is slowly expanding its table space. At the time of writing, the cafe is 100% vegetarian with many items easily made suitable for vegans. The vegan version of the eggy bread is sublime. Three of the sundaes can be made vegan and all are delicious, especially the baklava variation. The folks who run the place ar lovely, fantastic people with a great sense of humour that makes Persepolis feel very welcoming. I would give five stars if the option was available.

Pros: Some of the best vegan food in S London, Great people, Inexpensive

Cons: I don't live next door, I don't live next door, I don't live next door

Delicious vegan food at non-veg restaurant

This is both a store and a cafe with just two tables. The store has Persian goods at very good prices (1kg of tahini - £2.60!) Also, fresh local fruit and veg. I have dined here many times and nearly always get the mezze plate which changes each day. Although the place isn't even vegetarian, there ate always plenty of vegan options to fill your plate brimming full with delicious items. The food is extremely cheap especially considering the great quality. The shop owner, Sally, is also an author. The place is filled with her quirky humour - look out for her funny signs around the shop. She offers vegan ice cream which she makes into vegan knickerbocker glory, banana split and I had a Turkish delight glory the other say. The food is delightfully inventive.

Pros: Delicous Food, Cheap, Quirky

Cons: Only Two Tables, Non-veg Food Served
