More than just a cafe! A must visit. (Every day!) - Edit
We discovered New Moon Café while visiting family and friends in Batavia this summer and were truly blown away by the place. Not only was the team genuinely welcoming and kind, but it was also immediately clear that they are deeply committed to their customers and to building something bigger – a real sense of community in Batavia. They’ve created a safe, welcoming space for everyone, and it’s a beacon for anyone craving a sense of belonging. It’s transformed how we feel about visiting; suddenly, Batavia feels more “us” than ever before.
Read moreThe food is absolutely extraordinary – true comfort food for the soul. Their signature "Staten" breakfast sandwich, with its heavenly plant-based butter on fresh kaiser rolls, and their sweet treats that taste like they’re made with love and joy in every bite, are simply unforgettable. Every meal here is crafted with so much heart that it’s clear the team is dedicated to creating a little bit of magic for everyone who walks through the door.
New Moon Café is more than just a café; it’s a celebration of community, a place that leaves you feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. This hidden gem has become a true highlight of our visits, and we’re already looking forward to coming back next year.
Pros: The dedication to community, The incredible food!, The wonderful team
Cons: Espresso-based coffee will make it even better!

Vegan Oasis in the suburbs - Edit
A downside of coming to the suburbs is the scarcity of vegan options but this location just opened from the last time I visited and it is just delightful!! So many delicious baked goods to chose from and they even had a special vegan Italian beef made for the new season of the Bear!! Absolutely loved everything I got and will certainly be visiting again!

Love It all! - Edit
I love the staten's, home-made Chia, I also picked up mini eclairs, (so yummy and better then a regular eclair), and also got a blueberry muffin, and two cupcakes to try( vanilla & confetti). I'm Dairy free so I know when I come here I can try anything since it's all Vegan.

I wish I lived closer to this place! Delicious fresh baked items. Ordered pączki and they were amazing! This year they sold boxes of three flavors. I hope next year we can custom order the rose raspberry and custard pączki by select quantities.

Vegan breakfast sandwich!! - Edit
I grabbed their Staten sandwich for a quick lunch and it was delicious! Very reasonably priced, too. The storefront is beautiful. My only hope is that they can buy an espresso machine so I can hang out here with a latte and a snack to read or work.

I’ve been purchasing NMV’s goods for a year now and love everything I’ve tried. I just visited the new bakery location today. I’m so happy it’s open so I can visit anytime! The food is amazing as always. I always buy something to eat immediately and for the next meal or two as well. Cannot wait to go back!!!!

YOU MUST TRY NEW MOON - Edit
Jo and Jay were absolutely phenomenal hosts to this lovely establishment. They both take part in making their own vegan dishes and it’s nothing less than amazing. You can taste the pure “made with love” ingredients in every bite of everything you eat! Everything is very original in their own way with a touch of New York since that’s where they are from. The Staten breakfast sandwich is different yet so delicious in its own way! I cannot wait to try the Friday & Saturday menu because they have donuts!!!!!! ALL VEGAN.

Worth the trip - Edit
Every item from New Moon we’ve had over the last couple of years has been absolutely fantastic. The owner and staff are wonderful as well. It’s a bit of a hike for us but never disappoints. The new location is set up well. I hope they continue to get a lot of traffic and are able to expand their hours.

So happy this place exists! - Edit
So excited that New Moon Vegan has expanded to a permanent storefront in downtown Batavia! They have sweet & savory menu items, beverages, etc. Try the quiche and an iced chai! Or go with the tomato or herb focaccia (tomato is my favorite!). The Mostess Cupcake is truly the best chocolate cupcake/chocolate dessert you’ve ever tasted. Cinnamon rolls, Pistachio Rose shortbread cookies, Cherry Crostada(!!!), Cardamom muffins, Upton’s Naturals pretzel dogs - with or without jalapeños (the jalapeño cheddar ones are amazing!), orange scones, and so much more!! The trifecta is that the food is amazing, it’s 100% vegan (with gluten-free options) and the owner Jo is one of the loveliest people you will ever meet! Not to mention the location is awesome, close to the Fox River trail, parking on the street or in the back (take the little walkway from the back parking lot). Basically you need to make New Moon Vegan a part of your life and you will be very glad you did! Dine in or carry out, Wheelchair/stroller accessible, welcoming and family friendly!
Read moreMy previous review (from before the pandemic) when NMV was located at the Batavia Boardwalk shops:
It was opening weekend and items were selling out fast! I waited in line and was excited to see many customers supporting this great new vegan business. I tried the Brunch Box and absolutely loved the glazed cinnamon rolls - I could’ve eaten 20 they were so delicious with that fresh homemade taste you can only get from a special baker. The chocolate chip oatmeal cookies were truly delicious and the blueberry muffins were very tasty as well. This is an awesome and super-friendly small business that truly cares about being part of and supporting the local vegan community! Not to mention their baked goods are amazing - I look forward to trying everything else they make.

Batavia's Best Bakery - Edit
It's the only 100% vegan place in Batavia and they're doing it all right. They're truly a breath of fresh air that Batavia's food scene very much needed.
Read moreThe owners are very friendly and personable, and frequently update their social media showing what they'll have available each day.
They also focus a lot on local ingredients, which is nice.
They have sweet baked goods and pastries as well as savories like focaccia.
The reason they're only open Friday-Sunday is that they're located at the Batavia Boardwalk, which operates on weekends.
10/10 would recommend
Pros: Friendly owners, Daily menu , Creative offerings
Cons: Limited hours (not their fault)

Amazing Birthday Present! - Edit
My daughter brought her vegan mamma a box of New Moon treats for my birthday. Everything was absolutely delicious. The oatmeal cookies were fabulous. I loved the blueberry muffin with juicy sweet blueberries. The chocolate brownies were so decadent. I think my favorite was the raspberry sugar cookie. The cookie melted in my mouth with the perfect amount of raspberry flavor. I'm looking forward to visiting the boardwalk in Batavia to try more treats.
