Mildreds, established since 1988 and reported vegan in May 2021, operates several restaurants in London. Its changing menu offers British classics as well fusion meals, with example dishes like mushroom pie, Indian curry, lentil burger, tortilla chips and gucamole, burger with fries, waffles, vegan brownie with ice cream. This branch is small and gets crowded at rush hour so expect a wait. Open Mon-Sat 09:00-23:00, Sun 09:00-22:00.

Let's start by saying that you should really book a table if you're planning to eat here.
Read moreAnd it gets very busy, so no point arriving 15 or 20 minutes earlier, you'll need to wait anyway.
Once you are seated, everything is great, the staff, the food and the atmosphere.
I had the roman artichoke as appetizer.
And then the fennel sausage with mashed potatoes as main, which was rather scrumptious.
Definitely worth stopping by if you are planning to have food around the area!

Looking forward to returning - Edit
We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in 2021 and it was absolutely rammed, which unfortunately made for a noisy and slightly stressful dining experience. However, the food itself made up for this as it was all delicious, particularly the desserts. I have another visit booked in for a few weeks time and am very excited about it!

This is one of the top rated restaurants in London on Happy Cow so I had no choice than trying and tasting myself.
Read moreThe decor is super nice and gives a cosy feeling once you enter the place.
The menu changes from time to time so not all dishes are still available.
The gyozas were good, nicely looking, and taste wise, a nice experience in our mouthes.
When it came to the Main dishes, the portions are good and plates are nicely dressed.
My Bokkeumbap was very tasty and tofu was nicely marinated. However, it could have been a bit spicier (but I am the queen of spiciness).
The other dishes were also good in taste.
When it comes to the dessert, we had decided to share a Cheescake the 3 of us, since we were all already quite full.
My friends really liked it, but for me, it was a bit too sweet to my liking, but that’s my personal own opinion.
Overall experience: I would definitely go back to try out other dishes from the menu or recommend people to try it out too by themselves!

Una muy buena opción para cenar en el Soho, con variadas y ricas propuestas veganas, más allá de las típicas hamburguesas plant based de siempre. En contra decir que es bastante caro, pero lo peor llega cuando a la hora de pagar, te suman una libra de donación, no se sabe muy bien para qué, y una propina no opcional, que si además le sumas la prisa del camarero por cerrar la caja, hace que te quedes con un sabor algo amargo de tan rica experiencia.

For what you get the prices are way too high, then again, it is London...
Best thing is that the place is fully vegan.

I first visited Mildreds back in April ‘22 after a recommendation from my friend. The food was exceptional and the team equally so. I was so appreciative of the ambiance, quality and attentive staff that I set my heart on holding my brothers 40th there.

Noisy and cramped. Painfully slow service. My thali was not very filling. It had a few small pieces of sweet potato but lacked any substance such as beans or tempeh which might have made me think I'd had a "proper meal."

I’ve been to Mildred’s multiple times now and sometimes the food is great and other times it has been mediocre (same dishes ordered on separate occasions).
Read moreThe kimchi fried rice with crispy tofu is my go to and I would recommend this dish (or though sometimes the rice is over cooked and the kimchi is not flavourful so again is a hit or miss situation).
I really enjoy the brunch options and haven’t had a bad experience yet with my food choices!
The ‘optional service fee’ automatically added to the bill is not appreciated as the service is far from exceptional.
On the last two visits we had the bill presented before even finishing our meal and then two seperate servers came up for payment before the drinks were finished. Felt like we were being rushed out the door in a near empty restaurant (breakfast time).

Fantastic food at a fantastic restaurant - Edit
After making a reservation online, we arrived to discover I had made the booking at the Kings Cross location, but they accommodated us anyway. Kudos to the staff!
Read moreWe ordered the chipotle cheez nachos (excellent, and we practically licked the bowl with the cheez sauce clean), gunpowder bonda (interesting dumplings we had never heard of, but found delicious), amba chik'n* kebabs and bokkeumbap. We finished with the s'nickers fudge cake. Everything was tasty and we will definitely go again to try other things on the menu. Considering purchasing the cookbook, as well, but we were told the cheez sauce is not in it! =(

I stopped here for lunch on a very busy day in London (the day after the Queen had died). I had no booking but the staff were very accommodating to squeeze me in. Excellent variety of dishes and I chose the tempeh ball spicy salad. Highly recommended.
