Friendly, homely and delicious - Edit
This is one of my absolute favourites. The couple that runs this place is so nice and relaxed, they even have their little baby with them in a baby sling while taking orders and serving the food. Everything is vegan, organic and most importantly absolutely delicious! Prices are very reasonable and portions are large enough for a hungry grownup. There is a corner with play things for smaller kids and a large cupboard full of board games and reading material for older kids or grownups, so nobody has to get bored while waiting for the food - which doesn't even take that long, even when the restaurant is crowded. Deserts are also usually great including cupcakes, raw confections and chia pudding or sometimes even cakes and pies.

Nice place to relax. The Mexican food is tasty but a bit heavy. I recommend to add a (delicious) salad. For dessert we tested a chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Both were incredibly delicious.

The atmosphere of the place is really fresh and inviting.
They have board games, poker chips and books (for sale I guess). You can spend a nice evening there with your friends. A selection of vegan products is also available for purchase.
Free and easy parking just outside! :)

Pure VEGAN tex Mex food! - Edit
Since end 2013 pure vegan, using recycled paper, etc. and overall very eco friendly spirit (e.g no plastic take away boxes, etc.)

Prices are moderate and really acceptable considering the quality of the food (partially organic)
All ingredients are quotes, as well gluten free options are given

I've been to The Mexican Hat several times by now and it's getting better each time.

You can order more or less each dish with meat, vegetarian or vegan. If you go there, you have to try the vegan "cheese". So delicious.
They keep adding vegan dishes to their menu, especially deserts (like vegan brownies, yummy!).
Pros: friendly staff, easy to get there: by tram, bus or car, big portions - you won't leave hungry
Cons: don't take EC cash or credit cards
