The best Mexican food - Edit
My wife and I have been vegan for 10 years and this was by far the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. Madre is warm and welcoming and offers a fine dinning experience with normal size portions.

No tables available when we arrived, got the chance to come back two hours later. So happy we did!! The restaurant is beutiful, great atmosphere, excellent service, outstanding quality. Friendly and busy place in the Jordaan of Amsterdam. A bit pricey, but worth it. Fully vegan, so pick all you want to have! Portions may be a tad small, if you eat big portions, about three dishes for two persons are good. Or just try one dish and if you're not full, you can order another one, no fuss!

Venue was so pretty, staff was nice and everything otherwise good but the food... a bit bland to be honest. We shared the birria tacos and some other dish and the flavours were not strong enough to our liking at least. The broth was just really oily and bland. For the price that was a bit expensive already I would have expected more.

Love this place, they have a terrace outside and a lot of space inside, the interior looks amazing! Tastefull dishes, when you order the guacamole it is freshly made at your table, very nice experience. Probably the best vegan restaurant I’ve tried in Amsterdam, a tad bit on the expensive side given the size of portions. The place is very inviting and had a lovely atmosphere on a Friday evening. A while ago I ate at Madre and the food was really delicious! The restaurant is nice and big and everything is vegan. We were also well served. We had the Chipotle cauliflower wings, quesadillas, birria quesatacos and the mole rosa dessert. Everything was beautifully prepared and tasted delicious! Unfortunately the portions were quite small and the meals were quite expensive.

Really had a good time at Madre. And that was because of the good food, but most of all because of the friendly service. Not having an virgin magerita, they made one when we asked for our son who is not of age. Always willing to explain and serve. I give this 10 stars. Every star counts double for good food and good service! Definitly coming back!

Nice place, love the interior and cocktails. We went with 5 people and we all loved it. The corn ribs,chorizo taco's and fajitas you have to order! We called in the morning on a wednesday and it was almost full so it can be very busy around the weekends.

After seeing all the positive reviews for this place we finally wanted to check it out despite the high prices. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who took our order: two drinks, a starter, and two mains. The drinks and starter arrived and were decent. I didn't think the price was really justified, but we wanted to see if the main dishes were better.
Read moreWe were supposed to get plates with our starter, but they only arrived after we were finished. We were then asked if we wanted anything else to which I replied that we were still waiting for our main dishes.
Sadly, even 45 minutes after our starter arrived, nobody knew where our main dishes were. It wasn't particularly busy that day, and only two tables arrived after us so it's not like it was difficult to keep up with the orders.
My only conclusion is that the waitresses are really nice, but the restaurant is unorganized and overpriced.

The nachos with added beyond meat were delicious, the cauliflower wings and oyster mushroom tacos were just ok though. I have a feeling there were better items on the menu we should have ordered. The fajitas and corn ribs looked very popular and I would try these next time. They were sold out of churros for desert so we had the apple pie which was delicious. Also tried a mocktail which had a great depth of flavor and all the drinks being served looked fabulous.

You may be confused as to whether this place is vegan or not, rest assured the menu is 100% vegan, but it isn’t labelled as such. The indoor seating is plentiful and you can see into the kitchen where the food is cooked.
Read moreWe went during the day when it was quiet and there was still a great ambiance with jazz playing in the background. The menu is quite simple, but done incredibly well. The starter portions are much larger than expected so could suit for a small meal (also a good option if you’re on a budget!). We had one started and one main each, which left us full and content.
The presentation of each dish is beautiful and definitely edges towards fine dining rather - don’t let this put you off though, the place is far from pretentious and the waiters are very friendly and welcoming.
Madre’s Garden salad was fresh and vibrant, the cool iced lime and ginger was a treat and kept the dish light and exciting. Coupled with the margarita, it was the perfect start to the meal.
The mushroom tacos were my favourite, they were cooked to perfection with a great blend of crisp and ‘meaty’ textures.
4 stars rather than 5 as it is quite pricey. Still worth the visit and treat!

There are only a couple of chairs and tables in front of the place, but a larger sitting area further in the back. They offer all vegan Mexican-style food, wines, cocktails and more. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. If you're lucky you can catch one of the rare spots in the sun

Madre's atmosphere is welcoming with a great vibe. Clients and staff just seem to enjoy what they are doing. No pretence. The food is delicious and plates are sumptuous. Cocktails are truly special. I found it a venue well worth a leisurely weekend afternoon.
