Comfort Foods Galore - Edit
Is life on Mars really that much better than here on Earth? Depending on our rate of meat consumption, it might just be lol.
Read moreI joke around that I rarely have to wait to be seated at vegan restaurants but Life on Mars nearly changed that stance.
I ordered their Crab Cake Po Boys with their quinoa salad as a side, while my partner went with their Spicy Chicken Sandwich and fries. We also shared their Mac N Cheese cause you gotta try this at any vegan spot to see how they do. My crab cakes were okay - crispy batter with what I believe to be seitan in the middle. The quinoa salad was not good so I wish I had gone for the fries instead. The chicken sandwich here was also decent - spicy seasoning was on point and it resembled more of a 'filet o fish' type of sandwich. I also thought the mac could've had more flavor but it may have just been the kind of vegan cheese they used.
Pros: Great comfort food options
Cons: Quinoa salad lacked flavor

Unique Restaurant, Lots of Plant-based Offerings - Edit
We’ve been to Life On Mars twice, loved the food, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed their wall of vinyl albums. All in all, two great meals, and picked up a couple albums while we were there. Looking forward to our next visit!

Inconsistent - Edit
My partner really liked the chopcheese sandwich. (Tasted like a cheeseburger) The Brussels sprouts and marketboard were pretty good but I wouldn’t come here just for that. I might bring my guy friends here. Good music.
Read moreEdit: I’ve returned here several times and must highly recommend the cauliflower wings. I bring my Omni friends here all the time and they love it. The brunch here is also very good. So far we’ve tried the chilaquiles, chick’n waffles, and Up on Mars (with biscuit and gravy) and haven’t been disappointed yet.
Edit 2: Every time we come here it seems their recipes have changed. Last trip was for brunch. I got Up on Mars, which I’ve had before. But this time the biscuit and gravy were not good. They were nothing like what I had before. The time before that the cauliflower wings were way over fried. I wish this place was more consistent so I could figure out what is actually good here.

Horrible service - Edit
Literally just overpriced bar food that tastes soggy and stale. Worst service I’ve gotten in awhile- bartender had to check us out because the server was just ignoring us. Drinks were overly bitter.

Okay - Edit
I got the summertime salad, my friend got the mac and chorizo, and we shared a spinach and artichoke dip. The dip was not very good. It tasted like they whisked almond milk and cheap vegan cheese together and threw in some spinach and artichokes. I like a baked dip where the top gets a little brown and crispy. The consistency could have been creamier too. My main was just okay, but my friend really liked hers. I was considering getting dessert but wasn't impressed enough by the other food to give it a go.

Great Brunch Options - Edit
Went with a group of 4 and we all got something different, ranging from fruit and yogurt to their take on chicken and waffles. The fried tofu (the chicken on their chicken and waffles) was some of the best fried cauliflower I’ve had. Loved their country gravy and the chilaquiles were so fresh and tasty, but almost too much lime.
Read moreWe all grabbed some delicious mocktails and ended up buying some vinyl before we left, too. Highly recommend using the second bathroom before you leave… you will not be disappointed 🕺 Will be back!
Pros: Great environment and staff, Pick vinyl to play while you eat, Lots of mocktail options

All three deserts were great too (don't worry, I didn't buy them all myself, shared plates in a small group). Seitan wings are also something I typically wouldn't get but was really nice.

Best in the neighborhood - Edit
If you want a nice atmosphere with good food and drinks that doesn’t feel super “vegan-y” in a cool neighborhood, this is your sole option, and it’s a great one. All vegan menu, nice staff, original takes on wings and tacos. WILL RETURN!

Have been a couple of times. Really good vegan pub food. Three sides was more than enough for two. Friendly staff and covered outdoor seating.

Lovely Brunch Spot - Edit
Visited Life On Mars for a birthday brunch, and it did not disappoint food-wise!
Read moreOpted for the Triple Threat, with a couple of sides we shared between the two of us (knowing the portions would probably be quite sizable), and it was the perfect amount of food for two.
Would love to go back and try their dinner menu.
Fantastic ambiance and decor, but felt the staff were not the friendliest. Could perhaps put that down to a busy morning. Would have loved if they could have arranged something special for a birthday as this was shared before we were seated, but it was not acknowledged at all.
Pros: Great brunch options, Decor and space
Cons: Staff friendliness

Has Gotten Better - Edit
I didn't love them when they first opened (interesting ideas but not executed well) but I think they have found their stride. Most recently went for brunch with friends and we all loved it. I got the chicken (cauli wings) and waffles. And their coffee and tea is served in the cutest way, on trays with little color-coded hourglass timers so you know when they're ready! Loved this touch. Friendly staff, always good music playing, love the record side of the restaurant.

Just doesn't hold up - Edit
I really want to like this place, but I've eaten here twice and been disappointed. We got the comfort platter and smothered burrito on the brunch menu. The comfort platter stated it came with a "fresh baked herb biscuit" but there were no herbs (or honestly flavor) in the biscuit that did not seem fresh baked. The smothered burrito was simply drizzled in a small amount of sauce and was really small. I ended with so much tortilla and no filling I didn't finish. The scrambled just egg was a few random solid cubes thrown in. I used 1/3 of their bottle of hot sauce just to provide flavor.

Consistently good and great atmosphere - Edit
Life on Mars is a great vegan spot for comfort bar food. This is my go to spot when I want a cocktail and laid back atmosphere.
Read moreThe food is alright- with some hits and misses. Their quinoa and kale salad is very bland and dry, but their garlic Parmesan cauliflower wings are fantastic.
The chopped cheese sandwich was great- it tastes like chopped up beyond meat covered in sauce with great bread. The jackfruit tacos on the other hand could have used more flavor and was pretty mediocre.
For cocktails I love the opener, a green tea and floral vodka drink. I also loved the Big in Japan drink where it was packed with flavor being sweet and smokey.
This is a great spot for casual bar food, in a fun atmosphere, where their cocktails are great.
Pros: Very friendly staff and great service , The atmosphere is great with a vinyl wall, Fantastic cocktails
Cons: Food can be hit or miss in flavor
