Delicious treats

Love this place - always great stuff on offer. The menu changes daily, there’s always a pie special, a sandwich and a hot dish. There are also vegan cheeses and faux meats in the fridge to take away. You must try the chocolate chip cookies stuffed with Oreos - they are incredible.

Pros: All vegan, Delicious food, Good variety

Cons: Limited seating, Not open daily - check hours before going

Worth the wait!

Finally had the chance to eat at this wee gem on our trip to Dunedin this past week. The first visit we tried the lasagne pie and banana cake. Both were amazing. Second visit we tried the Mac and cheese and bacon pie and a savoury brioche. Again really good. Hands down the lasagne pie was our favourite! If you see it on the menu it's a MUST TRY! Also took away some treats from their fridge chorizo, Italian sausages, and camembert. Can't wait to try them all! Very friendly staff and all the food looks amazing! Highly recommend trying out their amazing eats and we will surely be coming back next time we're in Dunedin!

Pros: Amazing food , Friendly staff, Extremely good value

Great takeaway vegan “meats”

Why would anyone bother with real bacon or sausage when this is so tasty? Let them eat vegan, indeed! So glad we stopped by to take a look and picked up some of their wares.

Awesome food and superb coffe

They have awesome filter coffee, which you can enjoy in one of their colourful coffee mugs. Have a swear snickers bar or a freshly made baguette. Super nice people and a welcoming atmosphere.

Pros: all vegan

Long-overdue visit - why did I wait so long?

I've been meaning to check this little deli out for ages but never seemed to get around to it - I'm really glad I finally did! I saw on FB that they were doing a bulgogi sub and because I love Korean food, I resolved to make the epic lunchtime trek from my workplace. The sub was assembled while I waited and was still warm by the time I got back to work. It tasted amazing: the "meat" was very convincing and totally delicious, the sesame slaw was crunchy and good (bit too oniony for me, but that's just personal preference - love the taste, hate the aftertaste), and the roll was just the right mix of chewy/crunchy. I only managed to eat half even though I was super hungry, but polished off the rest at afternoon tea, so great value for only $9. It's probably just as well they are a good distance away - any closer and I'd be eating there every day! I look forward to my next visit and checking out their vegan meats and cheeses.

Pros: Amazing food, Great prices, Friendly staff

Cons: Too far for daily lunch

Great food

We had the sandwich to go and it was amazing! The owner was so lovely and made all meats herself. Was suprised that was only one option for the day but it did not dissapoint, would recommend to anyone visiting!

Delicious!

We went there to get some sandwiches, unfortunately they were sold out so we bought some of the homemade seitan and jackfruit ribs. Wow! Both tasted absolutely incredible and is homemade. Also really good price compared with what you normally pay for meat replacement at supermarkets. Thanks!

Yummy!

The day we discovered it, we ordered the cold sub to share. It was turkey and some sort of cheese. Very delicious! Would have been nice for a bit of crunch like lettuce.

The custard square was also delicious

Pros: Affordable, Tasty

Cons: Gimmicky

My Favourite Cafe in Dunedin!!

This place has the best fully vegan menu of any place in Dunedin. The food is delicious, and the menu changes daily, which is great for variety. I go here as often as I can and it’s great value for money, especially as vegan food is often overpriced.

The staff are so friendly, and the shop itself has a lovely vibe to it. They also have helpful signs up that have useful information for vegans (such as where to get protein or iron, or how a vegan helps the world in just one day). On top of the menu they also have a deli where they stock a ton of vegan essentials and delicious frozen pies.

I have a lot of non-vegan friends, some of whom are adamant meat-eaters and they still enjoy the food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who was looking for somewhere to eat in Dunedin. The only issue I found with it was the meat was almost scarily realistic.

Pros: Great Value, Delicious food, Friendly staff

Best place to eat in Dunedin!

On our first visit to Dunedin we decided to give this café a try, and boy were we impressed. You cannot go wrong. We ate a few things.
Their pies are delicious, I had the Japanese Chicken Curry. The baguette was fresh and yummy. The Wonky Wanda Bar (?) Was off the charts! Brownie, raw cookie dough, and Whittakers dark chocolate all in one.

We also got some vegan cheddar cheese and mock ham in paper (A HUGE 'thank you' to the cook) we were so impressed that she wants to reduce the plastic - please support her by buying food in paper. Although veganism is for the farmed animals (mostly), wildlife need our help to.

We trieda few places while we were in Dunedin and Let Them Eat Vegan is well and truly at the top of our list. Please support them!

Pros: Plastic free options, Delicious food, Wonderful staff , Innovative

Cons: Not a single con. Do yourself a favour and go!

nice surprise!

I had my very first pie ever. And it was so good! And the sweets, oh my! A bit tricky to see/find because it is at the end of a small lane, and than you are in front of this small sized shop, and you think: that's it? But then i went inside, and everything looked somehow happy and delicious, and so it was! Great great stuff. I had a pie, my sister kimchi, as dessert and later we had a mousse burger, rocky road, and something more i forgot the name, but not the taste! And the home-made ketchup tomato!
I already miss this place.
And please, take your time and enjoy some chatting with the really kindly people beyond the counter!

Pros: you can eat there, take away or frozen., not expensive , friendly, kindly people

Cons: might be missed at the first look into that lane, just two small tables outside

over indulged twice

Such a cool little place with some really awesome and delicious options. My partner and I couldn't decide what to get so we ended up buying both sandwich options and most of the sweet treats to share. Yum! So good that there was a repeat performance the next day. Probably a good thing i don't live in dunedin or I'd be poor and fat.

amazing

I had an Oreo cookie as staying in Dunedin for a few days, it was so good we had to go back the next day, unfortunately as we arrived just before closing time there was none left so tried the brownie cookie thing cover in dark chocolate instead.... it was out of this world! We loved it!!!

Essential

Has a great variety of delicious food for eat in or takeaway. And, the best deli in town. The BBQ pulled Jackfruit sandwich is fantastic. The menu changes daily, but all the best deli items are always on stock.

Hard to find, but worth it

It's not located on a very obvious location, but I'm glad I took the effort to go and find it. That vegan-bacon-egg-sandwich is out of this world! Few weeks later still fantasizing about it. What's the recipe, I need that recipe!

Absolutely amazing everything!

This place is a gem! This is the most extensive and delicious vegan place I’ve found in all of New Zealand. The vegan cheeses and meats are incredibly delicious with perfect texture... probably the best I’ve ever had! We came back two days in a row for the lunch that changes daily. Hot sub was incredible and pizza pie! The Oreo cookie blew our minds. Highly recommend to everyone!

Best vegan cafe

Don't leave Dunedin without trying this place! The best fresh vegan baguettes in New Zealand, a different baguette on the menu each day. Also delicious pies and toasties and so many types of 'cheese' and 'meats' to take home and cook with too!

Pros: 100% vegan. Reasonable prices.

Superb! A real gem.

If I lived in Dunedin, I would eat here every day this small cafe is open. I ate a baguette with vegan turkey and Havarti cheese (and greens) and it was simply to die for. They sell the ‘v’ meats and cheeses onsite as well as ‘v’ mayonnaise. The staff are really friendly and recommended some easy vegan recipes to me, as I’m relatively new at eating vegan. This place made me glad to be vegan.

Pros: Great food, service and price.

Cons: I don’t live in Dunedin so I can’t come more often

Perfect! loved it!

A very small, cute deli, with a few chairs and tables if you wanna eat there. We got there right before the close for their Christmas holiday so most of the stuff was out, but we got the Italian sausage sub and loads of stuff for the fridge (mozzarella stuffed chicken, sausages, cheeses...). The owner was SUPER nice, the food was delicious. Wished we could come back!
