Vegan maratang - Edit
It’s a place you can make your own stew, at the end they weight it and she I asked for a vegetable soup with it and she asked if I’m vegan so they know what I meant

Hot & spicy comfort food - Edit
Basic hot & spicy, low-cost Chinese-style hotpot canteen with serve-yourself ingredients, which are then cooked up by the chef & served to your table. Thanks so much to everyone who left reviews of this place and detailed instructions as to find it & how to order. I realised as I was reading the reviews, that I had been looking straight at the restaurant from my hotel window for several days.

Cons: No signs in English, though written in Chinese

Chinese hot pot in Seoul - Edit
Very good hot pot, you can choose your ingredients, the owner is very friendly and you can ask for a vegetable soup and choose the spicy level. I loved that meal!

Love the concept. Great food - Edit
The concept here is awesome. You grab a bowl and tongs and fill up your bowl with an assortment of veggies & different types of tofu. You pay based on weight (so don’t go crazy) and let the server know which spice level you want, and what type of stir fry. I think they have 3 options, each with varying levels of broth. Make sure to ask for veggie broth (not sure if its necessary or not, but I did just to be safe).
Read moreIt would be fantastic if they added labels to the wide variety of options to include in your bowl, as well as labeling or clarity around the default broth used in stir fry.
Pros: Options, Food, Spice
Cons: Labeling

Good food - Edit
The food was good and it was clearly advertised to be vegan-friendly. The only issue for me was that I didn’t know some of the ingredients offered, hence I didn’t know whether they would be vegan or not. It would be amazing if English labels could be added (as far as I remember there weren’t Korean labels either when I went). Otherwise, amazing!

Great concept - Edit
This place has a great concept: you get to choose all the ingredients for your dish. They give you a large bowl and tweezer tongs to select from a variety of options (lots of fresh veggies, noodles, different mushrooms and tofus), and then they cook it for you. I composed a tofu and veggies stir fry without noodles. I asked for the highest level of spiciness which was intense. It was not the usual chili heat, but the Sichuan pepper kind that made my mouth tingle. I enjoyed the challenge, but I might go for a milder option next time 😂

Absolutely spectacular! - Edit
You pick and choose yourself what you want them to cook and there’s plenty of different tofu, noodles, vegetables and mushrooms. Then you say if you want to have soup, stir fry or bibimbap. And you absolutely want to have the soup! It is amazing. I had spicyness level two which was pretty hot so beware and make it milder if you want to.

Not tasty, all salt and capsicum - Edit
I am an avid lover of mara but this place is not good at all. It lacks almost any flavor of all the spices that should be part of marashanguo. They have another location at jongro5ga which is much better.

Hidden vegan option! - Edit
This is a great place a few blocks from my office thar I never knew had a vegan option. They dont advertise in English. Luckily a Korean friend let me know. The standard spice level was mild for me, but spicy for him. As a side, the pancake is actually a slightly salted roti canai. Very good.
