Delicious and Beautiful - Edit
We had a lovely meal here: the space was warm and inviting, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was beautiful and delicious. I felt the main dish choices were too focused on pasta and would have liked a wider array of options. We ended up with 4 mains, all pastas (ravioli, gnocci, tagliolini, and gnocci). The black ravioli was excellent, the spirulina tagliolini was good, and the gnoccis were ok. For appetizers, the faux gras was okay but the beetroot rawvioli was excellent. We finished with two desserts that were both good, not excellent.

Creative, luxury vegan dining - Edit
This is our third time at Hearth and the starters are always the stars. We enjoyed the jalapeño tempura with spicy nori sauce, the cauliflower ceviche and the faux gras (probably the least good), and also the Mexican-inspired sushi which they gave us for free.
Read moreThe mains were okay but nothing we loved: spirulina pasta with creamy sauce and aubergine gnocchi with szechuan cannelini bean sauce.
From a previous visit, I highly recommend the cauliflower green curry soup.

Cons: Gave us the wrong wine (twice)

Pretending To Be Something It Is Not - Edit
I have admittedly made the mistake of choosing this restaurant based off the interior I‘ve seen online. I saw wishbone chairs, limewashed walls and oak tables and fell in love. Turns out the restaurant was just as superficial as my decision making two years ago.
Read moreWhen we arrived, my English was mockingly corrected before we were seated. The wishbone chairs I longed for turned out to be obvious imitations, which you couldn‘t tell from the pictures online and the people at the bar were constantly judging the room as they chatted, pointed fingers and laughed. Our server was really nice though, so I could forget the terrible opening.
The food ranged from terrible to good, but it was never exciting. They pull all the strings to pretend that they are high-end, just like the fake wishbone chairs. You could barely find your food under all the micro greens, edible flowers and foam. Some of my food was terribly imbalanced, some bland. The gnocchi were really good, but nothing creative that gave me any understanding of the pricing unfortunately. It definitely helped to wash it all down with natural wine, that they offer.
All in all it felt really hostile and judgmental. The entire experience felt like a facade that slowly crumbled around us to reveal, that we‘ve been tricked into getting something of a lower standard, than what it portrays.
Maybe we‘ve picked the wrong dishes and maybe the unfriendly staff doesn‘t work there anymore. After all my visit was in 2022. But I personally won‘t risk it again.

Best valentine dinner ever - Edit
We took the valentine special. Lots of different tastes, wonderful combinations, nice atmosphere with live music and open kitchen. You get an explanation about each dish. Very smooth service and nice decoration as well. In my top 3 vegan restaurants ever. Everything was amazing. The only dowside is the price, not for every week ;)

Wow. Once in a lifetime artistic vegan dining. - Edit
This is a great find, and while it is upscale people came in casually, some on dates and some with family. The food and presentation is beyond.
Read moreWe got there right when it opened at 5 PM and I took some photographs, I let them know that Happycow had led me in and they gave me a high five, super happy and extra attentive after that, although they are attentive and kind regardless.
We had some of their craft cocktails several appetizers, and then we took a break, ordered a bottle of organic red wine and had a couple of entrées, then dessert. It is a feast for the Eyes as well as the stomach, presentation is Art here.
We noted that the bar has chairs with backs which is a huge plus for those of us with back issues lol and no reservations are required there .
This is a once in a lifetime meal that hopefully we will have hundreds more times here.

Nice friendly service, food presentation is nice. A bity salty for our taste. Servings rather small for mains costing 24. On a side street near De Pijp. Street parking. Live jazz on Sunday night

This was our first time at Hearth and we came away impressed! We had never had such creative dishes before mixing so many cuisines together skillfully, from Mexican/Italian to Italian/Chinese, and more. Everything was truly divine! The staff was also very friendly and answered any questions we had about the food.

Where food meets art - Edit
A little outside the centre of Amsterdam is a vegan restaurant called "Hearth". Because of its location there's a modern and spacious car park ("Q-Park Centrum Oost") at walking distance. Even though we visited on a Tuesday evening, it was already pretty busy. Luckily, the restaurant has a lot of seating both inside and outside.
Read moreIf you are looking for surprising combinations or food you won't easily prepare at home, Hearth is the place to go. The menu features many strange combinations with descriptions that make the mouth water.
We started with two kinds of sushi. The Mexican inspired sushi is rich (overwhelming?) in taste and very satisfying. The Syrian inspired is more subtile, but also more interesting because there are so many flavours to discover. Both are presented beautifully and this really characterises Hearth: everything looks too beautiful to eat.
For mains we had the "Falafel waffle", which is tasty and wholesome. The "black charcoal ravioli" looks like a plate of gorgeous black pebbles, but is in fact a very creative meal. While the ravioli isn't too special, the teriyaki sauce and wasabi bits on the side make it with a work of art and a surprising meal.
With such great meals we also wanted to try the desserts and simply ordered all three items on the menu. The "zucchini chocolate browny in spicy orange whipped cream" was tasty, but not special (and no spicy orange to be found). The "walnut and date base coconut milk semifreddo" tastes much better than it looks or sounds. However, the "lemon curd sable with blue berries" was by far our favourite thanks to the refreshing taste.
Does this mean 5 out of 5 stars? Well, Hearth isn't perfect. The prices are very high compared to the size of the portions. And everything is charged. An unmarked recyclable bottle of (tap?) water costs 5 euro. The receipt has a big box with the text "service not included", indirectly begging for a tip. Sorry, we don't do that in The Netherlands. Ignoring the price, everything is spot on: the ambiance, the service, the food and the speedy kitchen. Bonus points go to presentation, because everything looks so good that it's like food
meets art at Hearth Amsterdam.
Pros: creative, beautiful and tasty food, car park nearby, nice atmosphere
Cons: expensive, even water is charged

One of the best spots in Amsterdam. The food has detailed flavors and combines the Italian cuisine in an interesting and tasteful way with several Asian cuisines. Service is great as well. It's quite pricey, but once you've eaten the food you understand why it's pricey.
