Must be 21+ years old to enter. Little retro diner, bar, and concert venue tucked away in the side streets of the Clarendon area. Began offering an all-veg menu in fall 2012; offers vegan choices for all dishes (BBQ sandwich, cheesteak, chili, fries, etc). The atmosphere is dark and slightly indie-dive-y. Art adorns the walls and you have the option of eating at several retro gaming tables. Live music nights. Opened another location in June 2012 called Spacebar in Falls Church. NOTE: Menu items are vegan by default but dairy cheese is still served on request. Open Mon-Wed 5:00pm-12:00am, Thu-Sat 5:00pm-2:00am, Sun 5:00pm-12:00am.

A must visit if in the area - Edit
If you’re craving some vegan comfort food, this is the place for you.
Read moreIf you plan on eating there, try to come when it opens at 5pm. Getting a seat is a bit difficult. Order at the bar, then they will bring you your food.
Everything on the menu can be made vegan or kept non-vegan, perfect if you’d like to bring Omni friends and family.
Tasty beer and cider selections

Late night! - Edit
The tater tots alone are enough to keep me coming back but they’ve also got incredible vegan sandwiches. If you’re having a late night you can still call in your order, and as long as you do so by midnight, you can dine there after the kitchen closes. They’ve got really friendly and accommodating staff as well.

DESERVES 5 STARS BC IT IS - Edit
This place is 100% vegan, and offers Omni food as an OPTION. Fabulous late 90s grungy atmosphere playing VHS videos in the corner of the bar. Order tater tots and a Fricken Sandwich. The tots were so crispy! And the sandwich was basic but AMAZING. Slightly spicy, good textured "fried chicken", and good mix of beer selections. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE while in DC!!

Great Vibes, Amazing Food! - Edit
Stumbled upon this spot and am so glad I did! After our first time here, my boyfriend and I liked it so much that we came back five days later. Not only does it have great beer and a very cool dive-bar-vibe, but it is so wonderful that literally every item on the menu can be made vegan, with a huge selection of meat alternatives and yummy vegan cheeses (there's also a create-your-own section!) The side of chickpeas is also INCREDIBLE - a definite fave of both mine and my boyfriend (non-vegan). Would give it a 5/5 but that's not an option.

The concept of mirroring traditional bar food is awesome. The food is really good. It's a great stop for people of different food choices.

Delicious and Fun - Edit
Tried the vegan Reuben, vegan Friggin Parm, crispy garbonzos, and pickle chips. For the Reuben, asked for an extra side of slaw. All of the food was delicious, the service was pretty quick, and there are great beers on tap. Bonus: there are some tables with video games and pinball integrated into them. Will go back many times!

Great Vegan Cheese - Edit
I met a friend here on a Thursday night. We got there right when it opened at 5 so finding a table was no problem, but all the tables had filled up by the time we left around 6:00. The service was quick and friendly. I used to be crazy about grilled cheese before going vegan, so this was really a treat. I'm not sure what kind of vegan cheese they use, or if they make their own but the texture and taste was just really on point. Tater tots were great too. Quick walk from metro. Definitely worth the trip and will be returning.

A vegan alter ego for (almost) every menu item! - Edit
Galaxy Hut has such a fun, quirky atmosphere. And great beer. And friendly, fast service. But the biggest plus is that for *almost* every meat- or cheese-based item on their standard food menu, they also offer a completely vegan variant! Last night, I had the vegan cheesesteak sandwich and vegan coleslaw, and both were delicious! Keep in mind that there are a few menu items for which they don't provide vegan variants - and that meat and cheese are generally the default, so you have to specify vegan. But if you do that, you're golden!

Awesome find. Small little hipster bar. Great beers. The food is not healthy by any means. But it's delicious. The corn dog, tater-tot nachos and Ruben are all must gets!

Kind Choices at Retro Hangout - Edit
I would go here all the time if I lived nearby. (My friend lives a block away.) Aside from what other reviewers have previously said, I would like to add that their beer menu is exceptional and has 4, 10, and 16-ounce pours. The best thing aside from the scrumptious options -- which include EGGPLANT FRIES -- is the decor: Galaga was my table, Pee Wee & Chairy looked down on me, and local art covered the walls.

21 and Over - Edit
It would have been VERY helpful to know that this was a 21 and over establishment. I went there with my two kids only to be turned away at the door.

Fantastic Vegan Bar Food - Edit
We *LOVE* this place. Especially enjoy that Vegetarian food is served by default, and meat is served "on request." For years I've mentioned to my husband the sincere desire to be able to walk into a bar or come across a food cart, and get some easy/quick/tasty vegan food! This place answers that desire. The sandwiches are great (especially enjoyed the Vegan Ruben, Vegan Bar-b-que, and Vegan Meatloaf -- all with vegan cheese), and we loved the loaded tater tots - served fresh and extra crispy. Only downside is that this place is in fact a "Bar," so while they do serve fantastic "fast" vegan food, we can't take our children there to enjoy it.

Cool Place! - Edit
Went to do some geocaching in Arlington this past weekend and decided to eat here for dinner since they don't open until 5:00pm. It was good, no meat served here so I was happy! You have the option of getting vegan cheese on anything and they serve seitan! Basic subs, tots or sweet potato fries menu but tasty and not greasy at all! The only problem was when we arrived it took several minutes for anybody to acknowledge us.

Note that they DO serve meat upon request, so it's technically not all-veg. But they do keep a dedicated vegan fryer, and dedicated separate vegan and vegetarian grill areas.
