The Rotterdam version of SaintJean - Edit
Maybe it's unfair to compare them, but if you only know Saint-Jean in Amsterdam, it's that but in Rotterdam. They're not affiliated, but both serve glorious pastries and cruffins. Nuff said right? And this one doesn't have a waiting line of a lot. My new favourite bakery!

I think a lot of places have difficulties balancing the fattiness of the cruffin dough with the filling inside, but this place was amazing at it! We also tried their buns and they were moist and delightful!

We went for the pistachio cruffin, which was delicious, but the sugar on the outside was a bit annoying and unnecessary. The chocolate babka was very tasty and chocolatey.

extremely happy that this spot exist! a real heaven for vegans in rotterdam. there are no many places like this in rotterdam. before discovering it, would only have chance to try those goodies in ams. when planning to visit, be careful as it might be very crowded and busy on weekends (ofc being a good sign hahah, but sometimes you have to wait for a seat. do not be discouraged by the waiting time, trust me it will be worth it).

I came for the pistachio cruffin but they were sold out (it was near closing time so my bad). Instead I bought their blueberry danish and a spinach and 'feta' pastry they were just trying out. Both were very good! The texture and taste of the dough is amazing and very satisfying! Next time I will definitely visit sooner and try some more of their pastries! Very friendly service as well :)

Love it here 😍 For me, it's more a Café than a bakery, but what's important is that they offer such delicous sweets! They have the famous pistachio cruffin and other delicous treats. Also drinks like a chai with oat milk. Very friendly staff.

We had breakfast here with 3 non-vegans and everyone agreed that although pricey totally worth it! I had the pistachio croissant and cruffin. Very delicious, very filling. Would go back for more!

Read moreThey offer a selection of puff pastries, buns and pies. They are very expensive though. The items I tried were only decent, so they didn’t justify the high price. Also, I’m used to great vegan bakeries in Amsterdam and Utrecht, so I expected better.

Loved the mint tee, coffee was a slightly watery Americano. I prefer a bit stronger coffee. We shared a wonderful carrot cake. The edge was a bit hard, but the cream and taste were lovely.

I’ve been eyeing Crave on social media since they opened and finally visited today. The interior is a bit too “white” for my taste and the tables are a bit inconvenient for inside use, but the vibe is there nonetheless. When I saw the pastries I got a bit disappointed by their size, but there were many to choose from by 12 pm which was nice. I went for the tiramisu danish because the other ones felt a bit too simple for their price and I just couldn’t possibly go for cake at a mainly pastry-focused place. I paid €11,75 for the danish and an iced matcha latte with strawberry purée (seasonal). The drink was FANTASTIC. The matcha color was bright and the only sweetness was coming from the strawberries which was amazing and not bitter at all. The danish was easy and crispy ( I think alcohol=free), just not exactly exceeding expectations like I hoped it would. No wow-factor. The size (and therefore the price) really bugs me. Still have to give it four stars though as it is a fully vegan place with amazing drinks and a friendly woman behind the counter.

The baked goods were tasty and very carefully crafted and the coffee was your bog standard brew. Due to the higher price I've paid I would expect to be wow'ed but I was not unfortunately. Still a good choice but I was left uninspired and wanted something more, something to break the mould.
