Not for vegans

This restaurant may be ok for vegetarians but I would not recommend it for vegans. There is an allergy friendly menu available upon request, but no vegan options were included. It only lists a few vegetarian or gluten-free item, and even those options were minimal.

Alright

I went during lunchtime and the menu I was given didn’t have anything labeled as vegan and stated that they do not offer substitutions. I asked the server about the dressing for the guacamole salad and she wasn’t willing to see if it was vegan. I decided to not take the risk and have the salad without the dressing. Luckily there was plenty of gauc on it. Wouldn’t recommend to vegans based on my experience. There are plenty of more accommodating Mexican options in the area.

A few vegan options, good service

It seems like the menu has been redone recently because I didn't see chalupas on it. I got vegetarian fajitas without sour cream for $17 but there was also an avocado salad and 2 other salads for around $13. I thought the food was good but my meat eater friends said the their entrees and the corn appetizer weren't good. We all agreed that the chips ($2) seemed store bought and the salsa was slightly spicy. I visited at noon on a Friday and there was plenty of seating inside but a 20 minute wait for outside seating. Our server said our food would be out in 15 but it came out in 5 minutes which was nice.

Pros: Fajitas were tasty, Fast service, Friendly server

Cons: A bit pricy, Meat eater friends didn't enjoy it, Wait for outdoor seating

Good Tex-Mex!

Not many vegan/vegetarian options but you can take stuff away to make it so.
Good Tex-Mex.

Pros: Quesadias & Enchiladas , Trio appetizer - guacamole, salsa & queso, Grrat service

Cons: Chips and salsa were not complimentary.

Good food, service was meh

They had a vegan item on the menu, and it was a lot of food for $9. Rice and refried beans are safe.
They were busy and we were seated quickly. No free chips and salad. After the food came our server pretty much ignored us until it was time to pay. Didn't come back to check on us.
With such limited vegan options on the Riverwalk this was appreciated.

Pros: Said a 45 minute wait but we were seated in 3. , Food came quickly. , Meal was marked vegan on menu.

Certified Vegan Options

Not a wide array of vegan choices on the menu but they do mark the chalupas as safe. They were good, even better with the hot salsa (be sure to ask for it). Service is slow but really not many options on the river walk so I say give this a try!

Good was good and ambiance was great!

Such a fun place because it’s on the river walk! The wait staff was good and the food was good, but nothing to write home about. Refried beans and rice were both safe…yippee! I got the vegetarian en Hilo’s dad and left off the cheese and sour cream. We also got chips, salsa, and guac for the table and they were pretty good too. But what’s special about this place isn’t the food, it’s the location and fun atmosphere. ☺️

Great atmosphere

It's not easy to find Vegan food on the riverwalk, but possible. Casa Rio has plenty of vegetarian options that can be made vegan. It ended up choosing vegan fajitas, which are good. The atmosphere was fun with the mariachi band.
