Ain Soph

I've eaten at this Ain Soph location a few times, it has a nice balance of being casual and is a little nicer. The food is always decent, but nothing I've been jumping up and down about.

The savory food is OK and the most memorable thing I've had is the salad served in a tall cup. I think I mostly remember this because of the odd presentation though! The fried "chicken" nuggets were OK. The pancakes are very delicious. I'd say if you have to choose one thing here, vegan pancakes it is!

Delicious food in bright venue

We had a salad bowl, salad with dips, tomato soup, fettuccine with basil pesto and lotus and eggplant, cheesecake and ice cream with fruit. We also had coffee with soy milk and a beer. Everything was delicious, except the coffee that was ok but not great. The venue was bright, staff were friendly and service was quick. I’d be keen to come back to try more on the menu if I could. We were lucky and got a table straight away, but it seems it’s often packed so they provide a list of nearby restaurants with vegan food to help people who can’t get a table, which I think is pretty sweet...

Amazing Flavours

We were happy to wait a half an hour for a table in order to experience the food at Ain Soph Journey.

It also meant that lots of people are wanting to eat vegan food in Tokyo - which is always a great thing.

From the lovely Australian girl who served us to the fresh and flavourful food, it was a great experience all round.

We were really greedy - making the most of the opportunity to eat fully vegan meals from a fully vegan restaurant!

The taco bowl was packed full of flavour and fresh veg. The gluten free pasta was so delish. The hummus was perfect.

Then there were the fluffy vegan pancakes!

Absolutely worth the money! A special occasion was had!

Pros: All veg!, Amazing flavours. , Cosy atmosphere.

All tables were reserved

During our trip we went to this restaurant, but all tables were reserved. We were very disappointed, but fortunaly there are many biscuits to take away.
This restaurant is near to Metro station and there is an English Menu (not for all products).
Their biscuits are really delicious ^_^

Pros: Delicious biscuits, Near a Metro station (Shinjuku-Sanchome)

Cons: Reservation

Nice dining experience with variety of options

Delicious food. I saw reviews about the space being fancy / pretentious. Although we were very casual with our backpacks, we still had a comfortable and pleasurable experience. FYI a little hard to locate. Front of restaurant is just a door with limited branding.

Pros: Lots of healthy options

Cons: Hard to locate

Ok.

Ain Soph is ok. Honestly a bit pretentious and overpriced, but the food is good quality. Would highly recommend the nuggets if you like fake meats. Also this place appears to be busy every night. Three times I've tried to go for dinner and found it booked out, walk-in seems fine for lunch.

Pros: Nuggets

Cons: Expensive

Small place, good atmosphere.

Great selection with various cultural influences. Very delicious, soy meat was okay. Small and cosy, especially upstairs. Great service.

Pros: All vegan. Close to the station.

Nice little gem

Gorgeous inside, great menu and staff.
A little tricky to find for clumsy me, it is a narrow shop front but directly in front of the station exit.
Though narrow it's over multiple levels with adequate seating for groups and singles.
Really good menu, the Japanese pudding really stood out to me.

Pros: Beautiful decor and ambience inside, Solid menu , Can recommend the green curry and pudding !

Cons: Little tricky to find, it's a narrow little front

Really tasty and big portion

Ain Soph Journey is fairly close to Shinjuku station, roughly about 7 minute walk. It’s quite small but this really adds to the ambience of the restaurant. We had the Nutty Curry, Hayashi Rice, Spanish Omlette and the Soy Katsu. Price is a little higher than other places but honestly, it’s as much as a restaurant style dinner would be back home so can’t complain. Sweets looked really delicious!!

Pros: Distinct and fresh flavour , decent size, really good atmosphere

Cons: a little pricey

A lot of tasty choices

I love the variety of choices you can find on the menu. After hesitating a lot (everything seemed good) we decided to share the soy meat cutlets with mustard and the vegetable wraps. For the desert, the heavenly pancakes were very tempting but we kept it light (as it was diner and we weren’t too hungry) with a crème brûlée and a tiramisu.

Everything tasted good and the staff was really friendly.

Pros: Many tempting options

If you like healthy food this is your place

It was cosy atmosphere and very nice staff, unfortunately after been in Kyoto and had their amazing food at AinSoph this place didn't hold up with the price and what you got. It felt a bit more healthy food and if you don't take one of the courses for dinner, I think you will still be hungry afterwards.

Nice atmosphere

This place has a nice vibe, the design looks natural and airy. The menu is on the pricey side and since they seemed to be showcasing their "heavenly pancakes", i thought i would give them a try. While i wouldnt describe them as pancakes (more like fluffy scones) they were very tasty and went really well with the jam, whipped cream, and rum raisin ice cream they are served with. About halfway through the meal, i felt like i couldnt continue however, maybe all the sweetness made me sick. I think if the pancakes were served as a side in a smaller portion and lower price, it might be a more enjoyable addition to a regular lunch item. Unfortunately, i was left thinking, i paid about $17 to feel sick? Again, it was really delicious for the first half, but i think they might have to rethink how they present this item. I can see this being a special occasion spot to catch up over coffee with someone while you shared a sweet meal, but i think for a satisfying vegan meal, i prefer the more casual Ain Soph Ripple.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, Good service

Cons: Expensive

Incredible pancakes

Nice food, lovely atmosphere. Serving is a little slow, so do take your time here. The antipasti 5 selection starter was not impressive and my main course pesto pasta was way too oily for me. BUT. The pancakes!! I have tried both the original and the autumn edition (early grey, stewed apples, almond) and both are the best vegan pancakes I have ever had! Don’t miss these!! I think there is a nice selection of dishes on the menu, not sure why anyone would say otherwise in other reviews.

Pros: Good selection of food, PANCAKES

Cons: Slow serving

Incredible pancakes

Really delicious vegan pancakes (that looks more like scones and taste more like cake). Quite busy so might be good to book.

Not impressed

Enjoyed Ripple, so we checked out their sister restaurant, Journey. We both ordered the vegan wrap, which was premade and in plastic wrap. It was mostly tortilla and 80% leafy greens, so it was quite bland and not filling. We glanced around at other tables, and the other food looked pretty good - so I think we just picked the wrong item from the menu. Definitely do not recommend the vegan wrap.

Pros: Plenty of vegan options

Cons: The tortilla wrap is a bad choice

Great atmosphere and dining

Came here for an afternoon dessert, and left full! Delicious eggy tasting pancakes and a great vibe. Surprised by the $x3 this has. Given the location, I thought it was priced more in the $x2 range

Over hyped

After reading so many reviews about this place we were excited to try the pancakes. The first time we came here it was closed randomly, which was also the case when we tried to go to Ain Soph: Ginza. Oh well.

Made a second trip all the way out to this area to test out luck and see if it was open this time. It was. The pancakes are essentially American biscuits, which is fine by me as I love biscuits. The flavor of the ice cream was not good and very strong so it sort of threw off the whole dish. But overall the pancake dish was pretty good. Also had the fried chicken, which had a good flavor but I didn't enjoy the texture.

Overall I feel this place is decent but way over hyped. Also the prices are just far too steep. 1500 for two pancakes and some fruit and 700 for the fried chicken plus train fare for the two trips out here. The pancakes look pretty and sure are great for instagram, but not really worth it.

Pros: Warm biscuits

Cons: Expensive , Closed randomly, Expensive

Don't stop believin'

We had the appetizer plate, vegan cheese platter, Spanish omelette, and signature tomato soup. We loved the appetizer plate – the evening's assortment included hummus with fresh pink peppercorns, a mini bean chili, a carrot-pinenut salad and an assortment of sauteed mushrooms in olive oil, all served with two slices of baguette. The tomato soup was essentially a tomato-cabbage borscht – it hit the spot. The Spanish omelette was light and fluffy, but it was topped with ketchup, giving it a tad of a lackluster finish. The cheese platter was good, but as New Yorkers with easy access to a variety of vegan cheeses, the selection didn't wow us – your mileage may vary.

The menu was impressive and our experience was lovely overall. We're hoping to squeeze in another trip during this visit!

Pros: Wide selection, Friendly staff, Nice vibe

Cons: Some options a bit basic

Few options on the menu

I wanted to try this restaurant from all my trip in Tokyo and I was a bit disappointed seeing an all vegan restaurant with these few option to eat at dinner. Salads, one burrito with only veggies, pasta gluten free (but I'm Italian and I can't eat pasta abroad...), curry rice, hayashi rice (I chose this and it was really just ok) and deep fried soy. To have an whole meal you should spend too much money so I tried just a rice and a pudding (this was nice).
They offers a good selection of desserts like tiramisu, pudding, cheesecake and waffles with ice cream and fresh fruit.

Pros: Good selection of desserts, All vegan , Good service and nice location

Cons: Few main courses options, Pricy

Will not disappoint for a great, 'treat yourself' dinner out in Shinjuku

On the expensive side, but worth every yenny, i would recommend this super delicious, great quality vegan fusion menu. I'm a regular to the Kyoto branch but visited Tokyo's Ain Soph Journey for my birthday this year and was not disappointed. Always so much to choose from and uber tasty! So treat yourself cause you absolutely do get what you pay for!

Pros: Great menu, Delicious, Kawaii Decor

Cons: Expensive

Great food

Had some good food here but a few tweaks could make it even better. The green curry came with three tiny cubes of tofu in it so was basically (really nice tasting) sauce. The tomato and mushroom stew was served with sticky rice but I would have loved some mash. Desserts were fab!
