Very authentic - Edit
A unique experience.
Read moreSome things had changed on the menu when ordering and requesting oil free was difficult.
The cabbage was lovely as well as the zucchini. I would have preferred more included in the options on the menu. The descriptions don’t always match the item.
But the flavor was great and the gluten free injera was awesome. Very authentic and friendly staff. Pretty expensive.
Pros: Vegan, Authentic , Friendly staff
Cons: Confusing menu, Missing items, Expensive

How can you not want to wrap yourself up in that INJERA?!?! - Edit
How lucky are we in LA to enjoy the gem of Little Ethiopia? We've been going to those restaurants since we first moved to this coast and have not let up. We had our favorite spot for years...but last year we all went whole-food, plant-based vegan and we had to take another look at our list of go-to regular dining spots. How delighted we were when we gave Rahel's a try! It is every bit as good as is non-vegan neighbors, always serving up a terrific variety of textures and colors and flavors. I have two young boys and they LOVE when we order the combination platters. We always remark just how much of the lovely, spongy, slightly sour injera they give you - TONS - and then we wind up eating all of it, especially the bits that serve as the base layer for the delicious stews and soaked up the rich sauces. (Drooling as I type. Keyboard slippery. Whoa!) Due to the pandemic, we have only ever ordered delivery and I am happy to report that nothing is lost in the feasting experience by not dining in. Still, we look forward to visiting in person someday soon, if nothing else to let them know how much joy they've brought to our dinner table and our bellies.
Read morePros: Every bit as good as the non-vegan places , Great variety in flavor, texture, color, They do NOT skimp on the injera

Delicious combination platter with generous portions - Edit
Rahel's menu offers a variety of vegan or veganized Ethiopian dishes. I enjoyed my combination platter with 9 dishes. The restaurant also offers all teff (gluten-free) injera.

It's good for what it is! I've found that many of the restaurants on this street serve more or less the same food, so it's nice that there's one that's fully vegan.

What a beautiful restaurant! - Edit
My girlfriend and I are oil-free vegans and finding food we can eat is quite the task. The friendly staff here patiently explained that they had a couple oil-free dishes that ended up being absolutely delicious. I will come here again for refreshing Ethiopian food.

Tasty - Edit
Very interesting restaurant food. Had never had Ethiopian before, so we went for the sharing plate for 3. Lots of variety: lentils, beans, cabbage, tomatoes etc. All 100% vegan. It seems that Ethiopian food is highly skewed towards veggies so this is the real experience. An interesting alternative. Highly recommended.

It’s an all you can eat buffet. You can order dessert from the menu, everything is good! They have a coffee ceremony option in the side room that lasts 2 hours but I have not had the privilege of trying yet! Just love this little place!

Little Ethipia - Edit
Always liked the idea of crossing Little Ethopia when driving north on Fairfax. couple of restaurants around, feeling you can get a shot of a complete different culture while being couple of blocks away from your home. The food was great and nice ambiance. Worth the experience, even though I would suggest doing it with a group of friends rather than alone to intensify the moment.

Best Ethiopian Food - Edit
Was very excited. Took a trip to California and this was on my list of places to go. My family still eats meat when we are out but did not miss it when eating at Rahels. We decided to go for buffet and it was quiet. Staff was very nice. There were lots of buffet options. Everything was very flavorful. I hope to go back one day.

The all you can eat buffet is a steal at $12.95. I have to admit that I couldn’t resist a second plateful, making myself too full to try the vegan baklava. 😭 Oh well, I’ll just have to come back and give it another go. 😊

the flavors are so rich! - Edit
So the core of their menu are lentils and beans with different curries and omg i couldnt believe the flavors. They had so much depth and richness. Looking at the pictures i was a little hesitant about eating here but im glad i went. And cant wait to go back. A tip i have is to use the little rolled up taco looking thing as a tortilla. Your supposed to scoop up the beans with it and eat it like that. Me and my boyfriend didnt know until we saw people doing it while we were walking out.

Really good food, cute spot. - Edit
I came here for the all you can eat buffet and it was absolutely delicious. A bit different as i've never had Ethiopian before but it was a welcome change. I wanted to try the mango cake but they were out when I was there, and service took kind of long for there being only a few customers, but I had a good experience over all.
