The best pho in the city - Edit
This pho place is down an alleyway but very easy to find. We ordered two phos plus a couple of items that were on display in the cabinet - EVERYTHING was delicious. The items we got from the display had a nice combination of flavours of sweet and savory, with great texture, and the phos were simply the best we've tried in Saigon. Actually, in all of Vietnam (to be fair, we didn't try much pho in many other places)!😄The prices cannot be beat, it was only 30K VND for each pho! So amazing! And the taste packs so much more value. Highly recommend!

Exceptional pho - Edit
Best to come in the morning when the counter is full of goodies and fresh product.
Read moreWe've had the pho on 3 separate occasions and it has been delicious every time. It's great to watch the food being prepared fresh in front of you and the antics of the owner and staff is like watching a TV show. Always something going on.
They have a dish like a tofu onion terrine. Be sure to try a piece it's wonderful.
Pros: Cheap, fresh and filling.

hidden in a little alley, it is definitely more of a local spot. Incredible pho with lots of fresh herbs. Menu is only in vietnamese, but you can just point at what you want.

Local, amazing vegan mushroom pho - Edit
This place is just a few mins walk from my current apartment and I go here at least once a day. Great mushroom pho noodle soup, great quang mi (curry noodle soup), all including an abundance of fresh herbs, lime and chilis, and veggies on the side. Freshly fried dumplings, fresh spring rolls, refreshing iced tea and... I've never spent over 50k here pax. My new go-to place for any meal.

Pho Chay Nhu is a really small and inconspicuous place in the center of the city. I was running errands nearby and stopped by for lunch. I ordered Pho for 35,000 VND and really enjoyed it. Everything is vegan except for yogurt.

Luckily my temporary office was right by this family mom n pop place. I would come here daily, super friendly service, but next time I wanna bring a local friend to help me order something new. One time I went there they have a great variety of mock meats. Then the next days it wasn’t there. Can’t wait on my next trip to try it again!

LOCAL - Edit
I went here with my sister while our friend was in the emergency room with salmonella poisoning. We'd been up since 8 am and hadn't had anything to eat, so coming here was a great idea. The place is small, and has plastic chairs. The owners were happy to see us and seated us immediately with a menu. I had the vegan pho and my sister had stir fried noodles. We tried some of the fried dumplings that were on the table. I thought they probably were free, but they're not. I think they're approximately 3K each. The food was delicious, and such huge portions that even though we were starving, we still had enough to bring back for our other friend.

pretty good if you’re in the area - Edit
When I sat down the very sweet man working there just smiled and asked me what I wanted. He brought me the pho. It definitely got spicier towards the end of the bowl! The mock meat was amazing but the broth was pretty basic. If you’re near, check it out; I might not come from across the city to go though.

Lived here for 4 months - this place has the best pho chay! Took me so long to find out that the tofu that looks like a flake is boiled tofu skin! I bring all my veggie pals here. It's a local for the monks. Be wary, as with most places it closes between 2 and 4 for nap time.

love love love! - Edit
We love this place. It's in a small alley but had a sign out front and the map is spot on. We can three times in a week because we simply loved it. No nonsense - they bring you a big bowl of Pho if you don't know what to order, with all the mixins. They even have vegan fish sauce. They're sweet and greeted us with a smile each time we returned. We tried a lot of Pho Chay places around Ho Chi Minh and Vung Tau and this was our favorite. Only 32,000 dong.

Pho Chay Nhu, Ho Chi Minh City - Edit
1stly I managed to find this place quite easily by taxi. Its located in a quiet side street. However I showed the address listed on the happycow app and the cabbie brought me straight here with no issues.
Read more2ndly as a previous reviewer observed, sadly this place isn't all vegan. I was also offered the yogurt that on questioning I was told was made with cow milk.
Again as others have said the pho was really delicious. This was only my 3rd day in Vietnam so I don't exactly have decades of pho connoisseur experience. I was given the bowl with most of the ingredients plus 3 separate portions that allowed me to add each to suit my taste of mint leaves, lime and chilli (in my case leaving the chilli out completely). It tasted really good.
Currently in my 5th decade of my humble and insignificant time on this earth, I experience something in this eatery that while it may be routine for others, I can honestly & modestly say I have never experienced before in my life. I was sitting down gleefully chomping my way through my superior flavoured pho when lo and behold, a gentleman showed up and drove right between my table and the counter to the back of the restaurant on a motor bike. This turned out to have some unexpected benefits. While the manager spoke a little English (and certainly more than my current 10 word vocab of Vietnamese), it turned out that Evel Knievel's English was pretty good. Indeed it was he who was more than happy to act as interpreter with the manager to help me ascertain that the yogurt I was offered was indeed made from cow milk.
As well as the pho I tried a couple of other things. One was a bit like some sort of a dough ball in some kind of sauce. The other was some sort of triangular savoury. I had one of each. All the food I tried was great and the total bill was 48 000 dong. There can't be many all vego places in central HCMC where you will get better value for your dong.
I liked so many things about this place. The hole in the wall vibe of the place was great, the people were lovely, the food was great and terrific value for money and of course rounded off perfectly with that unique motor bike experience. This place was only a yogurt tub away from being a sure fire 5 out of 5 rating from me.
Pros: Vegan friendly, Tasty & great value food, Nice people and atmo

This is the best pho I have had in Saigon. I go here for lunch often and there pho is fantastic. Its a great local place down an alley. I love the atmosphere and food here. They also have com tom (veg rice dishes) which is also good, but the pho is why you come.
