So dissapointed

After reading the glowing reviews of Moksa my partner and I couldn't wait to try it.

I order the burger which was absolutely pathetic! It was teeny tiny (basically a slider!), came with some kind of polenta bun so you couldn't pick it up (as the bottom was soaking wet) and the whole thing crumbled as soon as you touch it. The flavor of the patty was awful...in fact, so bad I couldn't take more than one bite. It was served with pitiful 'chips' which were lightly sauteed...pretension at it's best!

My partner ordered the sandwich which was also a tiny portion and completely forgettable. We both left hungry which is unacceptable given the prices they are charging.

Pros: Friendly waiters

Cons: Tiny portions, Over priced, Over rated

Slightly Upscale Vegan and Raw Food

Moksa has a lovely atmosphere among rice fields and their permaculture garden. They have a large menu with lots of raw and heated options. Everything on the menu is vegan. We opted for the three course meal, where you can select any starter, main, and dessert for a fixed price. The food was very tasty. Portions were a little smaller than I expected but overall, the meal was very satisfying.

I would recommend getting a reservation and they were unhelpful in trying to accommodate us without a reservation, even though it was not that busy at the time.

Below My Expectations

The ambiance and service is really nice but the food is a bit oily and not that flavorfull. They should stop asking the customers if they have any reservations because they let everyone sit very randomly.

Pros: A few dishes are really tasty.

Cons: Expensive and oily.

The best restaurant

Love this restaurant and come very often! Atmosphere, food, staff, everything is amazing! All food is vegan, they only use some honey in some of their deserts. Must visit if you are in Ubud!

Best Restaurant in Ubud

We have been to Ubud twice and love to eat at lots of the vegan places, but Moksa has to be the best. The food is high quality, subtle and perfectly balanced flavours. It is of the level you might expect from Lucky Leak in Berlin, but more relaxed and much cheaper. I highly recommend this world class restaurant (it is almost vegan, just watch out for the honey they put in some things).

Pros: Amazing world class vegan food, Nice environment with their own gardens, Great helpful staff

Cons: They use honey, it would be vegan otherwise, Location, it's hard to get to

This place is divine

I have checked out all places with raw-vegan food in and around Ubud, and most of them are really good, but Moksa is on a different level. The food here has an almost magical energy - probably related to the fact that they use ingredients from their own garden - and with some dishes I felt they are on Michelin star-level. Try the orange-strawberry-cashew cheese dessert for example, it is out of this world. After I discovered Moksa, I went there every day for over a week, sometimes for lunch *and* dinner, because I just had to eat myself through all of their raw dishes, it is that compelling. Enjoy this unique gastronomival opportunity when you can!

Pros: Excellent raw dishes using self-grown permaculture, Very friendly and attentive staff, Quiet and dignified atmosphere

Cons: You will go there everyday and spend lots

just okay

We went here with high expectations and in short, we were disappointed--especially with the raw dishes. The papaya wraps had a bitter sauce and were under seasoned, my raw entree was forgettable and the raw cheesecake was just okay. The best thing on the menu was the cooked curry--which good. There are so many better raw and vegan options in Ubud--not worth the trip.

Fine dining vegan!

Absolutely loved our dinner at moksa! Beautiful setting in a garden, lovely Ambiance and impeccable service. We got the the course deal, and followed our waiter's recommendations. The crusted tempeh with muffins and salsa was amazing. The hot chocolate was the best ever!! 5 stars!

Pros: Hot chocolate, Service, Variety and originality

Cons: It's far away, but that could be a pro!

Such a dissapointment

We visited this place after reading great reviews and recommendation from my friend and was very disappointing. Food taste good and the place is nice and quiet but the prices are the highest from all places we visited in Bali and portions are tiny. Value for money - worse than in London's raw vegan restaurants. The smoothies look great in menu but taste wierd and are served in the smallest glasses I've ever seen in my life and cost about 4,5-5 pounds per portion... One of the smoothies we order was so strange that I drank it only because it costed me so much....

amazing!

Best vegan food I had in Bali! Portions are quite big so it took a while to finish everything but it was so worth it! I got the lentil soup, mex bowl as a main and the chocolate vegan cheesecake as dessert. The smoothies are also very very good!

Amazing restaurant

I visited Moksa twice and wished I had more time to go again. The setting was beautiful overlooking the gardens in an outside, undercover area. The food was amazing - we even got little tasters of other dishes on the menu. I highly recommend this special place.

Pros: Great menu, Tasty food, beautifully presented dishes

Wow!!!

The food here is incredible. We visited in the evening and had three courses each. Everything we ate was a taste sensation. So much thought has gone into each dish and it was a joy to be able to eat food like this in a restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant also had a relaxed atmosphere. Overall this was a fantastic experience and I would thoroughly recommend it.

fantastic food

the food here was absolutely divine, my girlfriend and I both ordered the three piece menu which we both thought was very good value despite the portion sizes being a tad too small for my liking. all the food is grown in the garden surrounding the restaurant which i thought was really nice and encouraging to see from a sustainable perspective.
a little tucked away off the beaten track and just outside of ubud but in a very nice setting nonetheless.
would highly recommend this place ?

Pros: fantastic food

Cons: portions a tad too small

Must-visit in Ubud

We had our best meal here during our three-week trip to Indonesia. Both of us ordered the prix fixe menu at IDR 160k per person—plus 15% tax & service charge—it was a heck of a deal. We got to pick any two apps, two mains, and two desserts. Portions were generous. Everything was tasty. The stand-out dish for me would be the Jacky Mignon, where they cooked the slabs of young jackfruit like steaks. Absolutely delicious.

Only caveat is its location, which is tucked away in some rice fields removed from the town center. We were deterred from a second visit for this reason alone. Make sure to have your return transportation sorted out before you come. Also, the entire dining area is al fresco, so some bug spray wouldn't be a bad idea.

Pros: delicious food, excellent value

Cons: location

The best restaurant in Ubud

Tasteful and excellent food. Fine dining in a relaxed and child friendly environment. Difficult to find and a bit too far from Ubud; scooter or car is needed to get there from Ubud. But totally worth the trip!

Pros: Excellent and tasteful dishes

Cons: Difficult to get there, No child friendly food on the menu
