Good food, horrible service - Edit
We decided to celebrate our anniversary at Manto. We ordered a drink that sounded lovely, but turned out to be kind of bad (to say the least!)
Read moreWe requested another drink and told the waitress that we weren’t happy with it, to which they replied, they would charge us with the bad drink regardless.
In generel the waitresses’ attitudes were very NOT welcoming, even before the drink issue. The whole anniversary dinner was very uncomfortable and we felt like a chore from the moment we entered the door.
We give 2 stars purely for the good food.
Pros: Food
Cons: Service, The attitude of the waitresses

Hi. I’m Elsa and I’m the bar manager at Manto. I’m sorry you felt mistreated, but it was not a comfortable situation for us either.
Read moreWe take pride in what we do and we have many years of experience in drinks and food. I have been working in the bar for 10+ years.
When a guest complains on the all the prices, complains that a drink is too bitter when it’s a gin&tonic (that is how it’s supposed to be) and asks multiple waitresses to remove a perfectly fine drink from the bill, we get very frustrated. We did not feel apreciated or respected. This drink is very popular and all other guests love it. But gin&tonic is not for everyone, we get that. We also know how a gin&tonic is supposed to taste.
We do not give discounts because of personal preference, as we told you during your visit. That i not bad service, that is just being fair ans respectful to the craft.
You have the right to your opinion, and you might think we gave you bad service. But sometimes the service is reflected depending on how the guests are treating the staff aswell. Something to think about in the future. Have a nice summer! 🌸

Great food with flavors from distant regions. Umami, fusion, and intriguing spices. Pleasant design, pleasant atmosphere, and a friendly staff. My non-vegan friend enjoyed the food!!!

Absolutely delicious food. For three people we ordered two sides and four medium size dishes to share and we were all stuffed. Very good value. Wish I would have saved some room for dessert because they looked delicious too.

Take away - Edit
We ordered take away late one evening for six people. Some items had run out but staff was helpful in finding us alternatives.
Read moreFood was tasty but items that weren't marked as spicy still left some of our spice-weak members catching our breath.
Quite expensive, 4/6 of us were extatic with the food, and 2 found it more meh - therefore the overall score.
I hope to be able to update the review to a five after visiting the restaurant as maybe the 15 minute walk home made the food lose some of it's quality.

Friendly and helpful staff. The menu gives lots of options but I recommend to combine at least three or four of the alternatives for a full experience. A bit pricy but worth it!

One of the best restaurants in Sweden - Edit
It was pretty much by accident that I found out about this place. Having planned where to eat while in Malmö ahead of time, it was only when I was actually there that this name jumped at me as an unfamiliar one. I decided to book a table for my last evening in the city, and boy am I happy that I did.
Read moreMy friend and I orderered two starters (miso ginger slaw and fried eggplant), two mid-sized dishes (flat bread and manto dumplings) and just as many desserts (kishmish paneer and jelabi baby). The slaw was pretty darn good; everything else was absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS, making Manto a place you don't want to miss, and frankly one of the best experiences I have had over the two decades I've spent in Sweden. And yes, I've been to Blackbird perhaps 5 times, to Lao Wai maybe more often that I should.. to Växthuset a couple of times, to Chou Chou once. Manto has it all: an unapologetically vegan restaurant, with both mild and spicy (not to mention exciting) dishes, friendly staff, a cosy vibe.. and accepts cash, because there's nothing chic about excluding customers. Like a 2023 version of Malmö's legendary Kao's.

The food is delicious made with passion, good ingredients and served in a lovely and pretty way.
Read moreThe menu is completely vegan, offers gluten free alternatives, tastes a lot. Every dish is unique and the staff is competent and friendly. If you have any questions they make sure to answer or to get more information from the passionate chefs.
The concept of sharing food culture is present and the menu is also adapted to share and taste different classic dishes from Afghanistan with a fusion twist. Highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a flavourful experience. Will come back again and bring my friends. 💚
Pros: Plant based , Friendly staff, Flavourful and delicious

A new favorite restaurant - Edit
Went here on a busy Saturday night with three friends and had such a lovely night! My first impression was how cosy the atmosphere was and that the staff was really friendly (especially the gals!!)😄The four of us ordered all of the medium dishes, two side dishes and one drink each. All of the dishes surprised us by being different from one another, tasty and beautiful. Our favorite was the Manto and the aubergine. I’m definitely coming back to try desserts and the main dishes.
