Fun experience, mediocre food - Edit
We loved sitting outside here, watching people go by. Unfortunately our meals (couscous, dauphinoise) were underseasoned and generally forgettable.

Good food - Edit
I hadn’t made a reservation but they had space for me on a Sunday night. I ordered the hibiscus mojito without alcohol. This was a really nice drink in presentation and taste but perhaps a little expensive for a mocktail. I ordered the coconut soup with plantain. I liked the flavour of the soup and it was hot which was good. For my main I ordered the gratin dauphinois which I was glad was vegan. It was hard to tell but I’d say 40% of the menu was vegan. I enjoyed this and the potatoes were well cooked. Some salt might have been nice but I couldn’t see any on the tables, only pepper and sugar.
Read moreIncredibly the deserts did not strongly appeal to me (I’m sure they would be nice) but I wasn’t desperate for something sweet so I just had some tea.
Staff were really nice and I really liked the look of the restaurant. It is quite expensive though, or I found it was.

We stopped by after a bus tour and got a mix of their daily special and some starters. Wine was very good, the tart was well but vegan foie gras was literally hummus

Great Find - Edit
Reserved a table for Friday night, our last night in Paris. Not had much joy with our choice of eateries earlier in the week so we weren’t expecting great things given some of the previous reviews here but hey, what a find. Friendly welcome and a great setting. Seating was a bit cramped. Food was very tasty.
Read moreAbout half the choices were vegan, we had a lentil dish and a vegan burger followed by sorbets. Washed down with a great Castillon red wine.

Charming restaurant - Edit
Overall very tasty, with a reasonable choice of vegan dishes from entrees to desserts. Prices are around 35€ / person, which is justified by the location, the organic food and the general atmosphere. Nice place for a date !

Very well located traditional restaurant - Edit
I'm happy I discovered this restaurant while I was walking around the city by myself. I asked if I needed a reservation but they immediately took me to a table. I don't speak french but the staff was nice and patient. The place claims to be the first vegetarian restaurant in Paris and it has some interesting options on the menu.

Nombreuses options veganes, toutes les options sont vegetariennes. C’est un des premiers restaurants vegetariens qui ont ouvert à Paris et l’atmosphère est conviviale et relaxante.

French classics - Edit
I had lunch and dinner here, because I wanted to try a few dishes: I would have rated the place 5 starts but one of the courses was unfortunately poorly cooked and seasoned.
Read moreFor lunch we shared their chickpea faux gras, a nice and light mix with a bit of raisins and onion, too. We then had their great seitan escalope, with roast potatoes, French mustard salad, and ratatouille, which proved to be delicious.
For dinner I wanted to try their falafels with raw veggies, perfect, and then their gratin dauphinois, which I actually thought was a good idea. The dish was however quite bland and, above all, the potatoes were poorly baked and sometimes not cooked properly. Alas, I would have given 5 stars, but I had to review my rate and I hope it was just a bad day.

French vegan food - Edit
Le Grenier de Notre Dame is tucked in one of the small alleys not far from the river Seine. The restaurant is tiny, but has an upstair seating area, and as suggested by other reviewers, it's better to reserve, if you are in a group larger than 2. I was by myself, so I got seated quite close to the bar. Weirdly, there were no phone reception and wifi.
Read moreIt has been raining almost all day in Paris and I fancied something warm, so, I ordered the cassoulet. The price was not on the cheap side, €18.5, but this is Paris and almost everything is inflated.
The food came after ~15 minutes of waiting. It looked alright, and came piping hot. There were adequate amount of seitan (although they also added few blocks of tofu which makes no sense), one olive, and 4 potato wedges. It was served with good brown bread.
I hoping for a rich tomato-y white bean stew, however, the first spoonful of cassoulet was a disaster. It was bland; I cannot taste the sweetness or acidity from the tomato, and the seitan chunks are neither giving any depth of flavour, nor bites. So, I ended up pouring some soy sauce, provided on the table, to the dish, and it made the cassoulet better.
I was going to treat myself for a dessert, but with such hefty price I opt for a cup of hot chocolate. Unfortunately, it's not vegan, but they can change cow juice to coconut milk. What could possibly go wrong with coconut milk and cocoa, mixed together? Everything! I would say that whoever made the hot chocolate should taste their creation first before serving it to the costumer.
This dining experience has made me regret not getting the supermarket salad/ Aldi's vegan microwaveable 3 bean chilli for dinner.
Next time I have another meeting in Paris, I would probably go to an omnivore restaurant and ask for a vegan option, than make a special trip to this place.

Classic French food - Edit
This is what I've been looking for in France. Classic French food made vegan (or vegetarian). It's the oldest veg restaurant in France. Clearly labeled menu for vegan and gluten free options and a kind proprietor. I got the Dauphin Gratin and it was amazing. Good portion sizes to not feel uncomfortably full. Comfort food at its best.

Best vegan cheese I’ve ever had, okay entree - Edit
My husband and I came here around 7:30p on a Tuesday and were able to be seating without a reservation. It’s VERY close quarters inside, so I wouldn’t recommend for a group larger than 2 unless you have a reservation!
Read moreWe ordered the cheese plate for one to start, which came with a vegan version of blue cheese, some herbed cheese, and brie. The cheese was AMAZING and hands down the best part of our experience. Plus, the plate for one is plenty for two people to split.
We each then got dinner entrees and while they were good, it wasn’t anything mind blowing. Overall it’s a solid place to get a veggie meal.
(FYI not everything is vegan! But the menu is labeled to reflect what is.)

Nice vegan restaurant - Edit
This restaurant is near Notre-Dame and near the Latin neighborhood, where you can find lots of night caffee or lounge bars. It is a nice but small restaurant, aesthetically pleasing, with a large vegan options menu. Every dish is vegan, with the exception of three vegetarian meal, and two of them can be made vegan at request. I would say that the range of price is average for Paris: entrees cost around 9€ and plates 15-20€. Since its a small place it's recommended to book a table in advance

Proper vegan cooking near notre dame - Edit
I’m not a huge fan of burgers etc so it was good to find this little place - apparently France’s longest established vegetarian restaurant - which had an interesting menu which did include burgers but also lots more. I had a Zen bowl - vegan salads with tofu, delicious but a huge plate which I couldn’t finish. Service was friendly but rather slow the day we were there but as we were sitting outside in the sun and weren’t in a hurry that wasn’t a problem.
