Excellent food from starter to desert - Edit
Everything was just delicious, I’m specially fond of the home made ice creams. It’s a small space so reservations are advised.

Excellent Little Restaurant - Edit
I absolutely love Lao Wai. My dad and I were staying in Stockholm for a few days and decided to try the restaurant out as it is fully vegan. I've never really eaten traditional Chinese foods nor dined in the same way, and the experience was really great. The first time we went we got two dishes and found we ate too much, so when we went back the second time we just got one dish between us. We got different foods each time, one soy protein dish and two tofu ones. My dad is very strongly non-vegan, but even he was more than happy to go back a second time. The waiter was different each time, but both were so friendly, polite and helpful. I wish we could've stayed in the city longer so I could have tried some more of their dishes, because they were so tasty. The only thing I could say "bad" about it was that it was so small, but it had a really cosy vibe, so while we almost didn't get a table, it isn't really anything that would stop me from giving this place a five-star rating.

N°1 - Edit
Honestly the best vegan restaurant possibly in the world. Can't say I've been to them all but I've been to a fair few and this is the top of the list for me. Traditional Chinese cuisine to perfection, but also a traditional Chinese dining experience itself. Life changing from the first bite. The thing they serve for lunch isn't bad either.

A tiny oasis - Edit
This tiny restaurant boasts (in my humble opinion) the best vegan cuisine in Stockholm. It Specializes in vegetarian food inspirerad by traditional Sichuan and Taiwanese dishes. Their kitchen is free of msg, egg and milk products. Make sure to book a table if you're in town.

It's a really good restaurant but it is very small so it can be hard ta find a place to site if it is during lunchbreak. The food is well done and has a good price for it.

Best option - Edit
For many years this was the only pure vegan restaurant in town which might be a valid thing to take in context when reading older reviews, we had nothing to compare with.
Read moreNow we have something to compare with and it is still the best option of the pure vegan places. The food is Szechuan and Taiwanese standard dishes veganised, so perhaps not a super thing compared with cities with more options, but the food is tasty and good.
The enviorment might be stressfull, and it's a place to go with a bigger group so you can share off diffrent places. And Do book a table
Pros: Good authentic Szechuan and Taiwanese food, Central, Tasty
Cons: Requires booking, Expensive, Might be loud

great place - Edit
Cozy place, but tiny, all tables are really close to each others and it gets noisy really quick. Book in advance, the place is often fully booked! The food really good and spicy, but nothing original. Good point though, you can get as much rice as you want with no extra costs

Amazing food, very good service - Edit
Very busy restaurant, but accommodated us without a reservation. Food and tea was top quality. Staff were happy to alter some of the dishes to make it suitable for a year old child. They also put up with the mess and noise from a boisterous child!

This is where I bring meat eaters to impress them - Edit
The food is absoutely delicious, and the drink options go well with the food. One main course is more than enough to fill you up, and you share the courses on the table, putting a little bit of everything in your own rice bowl. Make sure to save some room for the home-made ice cream based on soy, rice or coconut milk.

Tiny resturant, but cosy. Book the table in advance! Expensive but it is worth the cost, because of the high quality of the food. Extraordinary ingredients. Soy-meat, tofu, mushrooms in meany variations... and delicious ice cream - based on coconut-, soy- or ricemilk.

Best restaurant in Stockholm - Edit
It's a small place. Make sure you book a table. By phone only.
Read moreThis is Chinese food at its best. The fact that the food is vegan is just extra delight!
They serve a large variety of tea and also wine and beer.
Maybe a little bit understaffed since sometimes you have to wait to get attention.
If you ask they sometimes have frozen lunch boxes to bring home for a very reasonable prize!

Vegan Chinese restaurant - excellent food - Edit
Lao Wai is nowadays a classic vegan Stockholm restaurant and still keeps the high standard. Minimalistic interior design, and very small space - so make sure to book a table in advance. This is one out of a few Stockholm restaurants that serves Chinese food as I remember the taste from my visits to China. The high-quality food is the basis for my five stars. The service is reasonable but I sometimes feel the waitor is a bit too stressed and one sometimes has to wait a few minutes extra for orders.

Book ahead! - Edit
We turned up just before 5:30pm on a Thursday night and we were lucky to get a table (and had to be prepared to be gone before 7pm). We saw several other groups get turned away. So book ahead!
Read moreThe prices weren't cheap and the serving sizes quite small compared to what we're used to (in Bulgaria) but man, it was good! We had 3 dishes (a starter and 2 mains) and they were all delicious. Before moving to Bulgaria I lived in Asia for a decade (5 of those years in China) and this is the best Asian food I've had in a very long time.
Highly recommend giving this place a try but do make a booking to avoid disappointment.

Decent lunch option - Edit
They do offer a set lunch on weekdays between 11 am. and 2 pm. for 100 kronors. I didn't have to wait for long, the portion was generous and the food was tasty. It's a friendly place and I would go there again. For Swedish condition the price was OK. Food seemed to be quite authentic (Chinese).

Average - Edit
I was looking forward to some Asian food which was began in Stockholm however I was disappointed.
Read moreThere is just one dish they serve at lunchtime and it was lacking flavor.
For the simplicity of the dish and they fact the kitchen only need to prepare one dish the 100Kr cost I thought was too high.
A nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
