DISGUSTING FOOD!
I TOOK MY FILIPINA GIRLFRIEND TO THIS RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH. SHE, BEING FILIPINA, WILL EAT ANYTHING. OUR FOOD WAS SOOOOOOOO DISGUSTING. NO TASTE, NO TEXTURE. AVOID GOING TO THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!! MY GIRLFRIEND REFUSED TO EAT IT. WE BOTH SPIT OUT OUR FOOD, IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT. IT'S EXPENSIVE AND THEY SERVE THE MOST DISGUSTING FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: CON - FOOD IS HORRIBLE, FOOD IS EVEN MORE HORRIBLE
Wanted to love this place :(
An all vegan restaurant minutes from my home?! Yes please!
I have eaten at Green Faire twice now, and have found the same basic complaints to be true on both visits. Food was very expensive, service was slow and rather diffident and the food was quite bland.
However, my number one complaint was the slugs in my salad. Yes - slugs. In both visits I found slugs (albeit very small and very cute!) in my salad greens. Both times I discreetly alerted the wait staff, and both times the reactions were incredibly nonchalant, as if this was totally normal and I needed to get over myself. My food was not remade nor was I offered a discount or an apology.
I really want to be able to rave about this restaurant but slugs are a deal breaker for me.
Owner not a fan of vegans and animal rights and food was not great
So I went hearing good things but it was health focused which was fine I am game to try something different. I had a cheesy potato dish which was decent and then I also got broccoli which is tough to screw up. Broccoli in a lemon sauce would have been a treat as I love broccoli but raw broccoli in tepid water with a little lemon and pepper is terrible especially when it costs $8. Look I can understand a carnist restaurant [censored] up steaming broccoli but one that touts itself as vegetarian/health conscious...come on. If you were going to leave it raw fine, but make a delicious sauce for it.
Personally I would have taken lemon juice, nutritional yeast, raw cashews, pepper and garlic and blended that. It is easy to make and would have been a delicious sauce or dip depending on how thick you make it. Also SOS free so it would fit in with the restaurant. It would go great on steamed broccoli or raw as well.
Also the owner attempted to put on a veg fest and ended up denying applications to a lot of animal friendly groups like United Poultry Concerns who table at most veg fests and and a local musician who is vegan and had been told he had a spot to play and shortly before the event was removed. It was so bad that Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary dropped out because they were so offended by her treatment of pro-animal groups.
I really was hoping this place was going to be better. A more health focused establishment can be good for you but you have to be able to know how to cook and prepare food well. You have to know the basics but also be able to be creative and use the restrictions as an advantage. It is easy to win over folks who are fine with bland food and eat limited raw foods but the true goal should be to win over those who love the less than healthy foods and get them in the door. It is very doable and it is a shame they couldn't do it.

Hello Veganwithavengence! Thank you for trying GreenFare...
I did start the Fairfax Veg Fest last year, which was a huge effort and thanks to a lot of work, it was a very successful event. The venue where it was hosted had say over who was able to attend and unfortunately a few groups were not approved. I made personal donations to those not attending and was very sorry that this happened. Sometimes it takes baby steps to make progress. We had almost 5k attendees our first year and everyone had a great time. We're doing it again this year on April 19th and have a great lineup of health and animal group speakers that are amazing. I hope that it will change more minds to the benefits of a plant based lifestyle.
I'm glad that you like the animal pictures!

Unfortunately it wasn't the venue that had the issue. The venue did not care. Having organized various events over the years and been to plenty of veg fests the venue rarely cares unless you are actively doing illegal things which UPC and others have not done and do not do. It was a conscious decision from the organizers. The Credit Union really only cares you don't damage their parking lot or their building or actively go against their business, they were certainly not looking into UPC and saying no.
I am surprised nothing to really back up your food issues. Having eaten there a second time because I am a fair person it was a little more edible this time but I avoided the raw broccoli in lemon water. It wasn't great food for the price but wasn't so abhorrent as that broccoli.

Hi again, we did have a contract with the venue, and they reviewed every applicant who applied. Again, I personally made donations to the few who were denied attendance. I appealed and was turned down at a VP level. Thank you for coming back to GreenFare.
Just as an fyi, I stopped eating meat in my teens and poultry in my twenties because I love animals. Most animals are so much nicer than a lot of people.

And I’m happy to talk with you about this; my name is Gwyn Whittaker and you can teach me on my cell 703-626-9182. I would appreciate a conversation.

Bland food - Edit
We drove 45 minutes to eat there and what a disappointment. The waitress was eating in between talking care of people without washing her hands. The food was extremely bland with no spices. Not much to choose from the menu and it was to pricey for what you get.The salad came with no choice of dressing. It was terrible and by no means will we be returning.

We are trying to promote great health as well as vegan food, and while we prepare our organic, freshly chopped vegetables without added salt in the kitchen, we have salt shakers on the table for those who want to use it. Most restaurants don't offer this ability and hide salt, sugar, and oil in their food to mask poor quality produce. People thank us not only for being a vegan restaurant, but for offering healthy vegan food.
