You should know that it is cafeteria style but I truly enjoyed this place. Walking in felt like I had left the city. The food all tasted great.

Peaceful & tasty - Edit
I was so happy to find out about this vegan spot. The outside is warm and inviting as you walk to the restaurant. I loved the one menu and fixed price. No decisions to make and being all vegan, one doesn’t have to ask about individual items on the menu. Love this place and cannot wait to go back.

Delicious food and nice outdoor eating space - Edit
The food was delicious and I really liked that there was a lot of variety on my plate (a small serving of several dishes). My kiddo loved the food and the outdoor play space too! Very unique restaurant and space.

Amazing Overall Experience - Edit
From the moment you walk in Casa De Luz you can feel the serene atmosphere. It’s such a beautiful place with plenty outdoor/indoor seating and even a child’s outdoor playground. The outdoor seating is surrounded by big beautiful trees and peaceful music. The food was absolutely amazing. The best thing was that they use no processed fats such as oil! The price was fair and this place is a non-profit. It always feels good to support a place like this. Overall, this may be one of the best, if not THEE best vegan restaurant I went to. I’ll definitely be back.

Microbiotic food 😲 - Edit
Microbiotic food with in a zen atmosphere. We walked through the beautiful bamboo trail to the restaurant. We were greeted and paid for our meals. The dessert cabinet looked delicious but we were so stuffed we could not eat another bite after our meal. The artisan greens were topped with lemon and nut dressing. It tasted very clean and flavorful. The steamed veggies were crisp and the peanut sauce was very good. The lentil dish had a nice flavor. There was a round scoop of brown rice with a mushroom gravy on top. It was simple but filling. The soup was a sweet acorn squash and potato soup which I loved. There were pickled beets and another veggie dish with another sauce. The presentation on the food was great. The teas were delicious as well. There was a spa type music playing while we ate.

Must try; you will love it! - Edit
Beautiful food, people and surroundings! The food was delicious and plentiful! You get hot tea included with your meal. This was an unexpectedly lovely experience. Any time I’m in Austin, I will return! Someone from the kitchen area even came over to ask how we liked the food! It felt special! Thank you, Casa de Luz!

5 Star All The Way - Edit
Meals are a set price with a set menu, but don’t be dissuaded because the food is fantastic! Plant based, fresh, and healthy. I’ve only had similar quality plant based meals at Buddhist monasteries in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The price was around $14.50 per plate, and given both the quality and quantity, this is an excellent price. Dessert can be added to the meal for an extra cost.

Cool setting - Edit
This was such a different experience with the flat rate meal, communal dining, and nestled behind a community center. Cute little nature walk by hammocks to get to the restaurant. Pay at counter and self serve. Sat outside and enjoyed everything we ate!

Wonderful place, wonderful restaurant - Edit
This restaurant is located within a type of compound that serves as a yoga place, Montessori school, etc.--plus a restaurant. The setting is beautiful, and the food is excellent in every way: delicious, healthy, filling, and reasonably priced, with friendly staff. A world class place in every way.

Healthy and hearty - Edit
Came with some friends for weekend lunch a few weeks back for the first time and was a little cautious about the fact that menu changes every day and is only one meal. This day it was a soup, salad, and plate with 3-4 different items. All 5-6 things were really good. The salad dressing was top notch and I went back for seconds. We also got some desserts which were pretty good. Will definitely be back

I was a little scared to find this "too healthy" for my taste, and was so surprised to find this delicious and nutritious. The whole vibe around the place was lovely, and I can not wait to go back, when back in Austin.

A nonpareil vegan rhapsody. - Edit
The Austin standard for salubrious cuisine, a place whose ethos holds up the very roof – this creed is painted above the entrance to remind you as you leave, why you must return soon. It is good to know the rhythm of the set menu: First Monday of the month, vegan sushi is for dinner. First Friday of the month, the dinner is Indian themed. Tues dinner every week is gorditas. Wed lunch/Thu dinner/Sun lunch are tacos.

Good for me, good for you too - Edit
The food is definitely nutritious...i think i might like vegan junk food a bit too much to enjoy sweet less tea and a fixed menu. Overall salt and pepper helped a lot...but they do deserve all four stars for the value of their product and the awesome service we received. You do have to clean up after yourself( if you’re into that sort of thing at a restaurant 😅).

If you want junk food then go somewhere else. Don’t rate down a PERFECT restaurant because you are wanting a different restaurant...just go someplace else if this isn’t for you. Tea isn’t suppose to be sugary. That is not healthy and not the casa de luz way. Also, casa intentionally does that because it’s in their mission statement to build community and it’s not like you’re wiping down the table...you’re just carrying the dishes from point A to point B. Are people really this lazy that they’d rate down a business and cause it to do less well just because they’re that stuck up?

Reviews are opinions. We are all entitled to our own as long as they are honest. My truth and yours will vary. Yes, I’m feeling lazy if I’m going to a restaurant as opposed to cooking, that’s implied. I had never been to the place and, experiencing it is the only way I’d ever know that it’s not what I wanted (need maybe…two different things). Thanks! 😀

You may have missed the part where I said it was nutritious. It wasn’t my idea of delicious needing to add spices and not being able to finish the meal. I’d have given the 5th star if I wasn’t disappointed in that regard. Who gives 5 stars to a restaurant where they didn’t finish their meal, vegan or not? I want honesty in reviews, not modifying the truth to help a business. I’m sure you would value that too, trying out places that are not local to your residence.

Wonderful vegan find in a unique little community space! - Edit
Parking across the street for $1/hr. Fixed-price lunch for $14 which includes tea (hot and cold available), homemade soup of the day and freshly-dressed salad (this part is self-serve), and a full plate of entree-of-the-day brought to your table afterwards. All vegan, all fresh, no processed foods. They charge 50 cents for a to-go container, which I needed with the volume of food! Bus table yourself when done. This is a happening place and it was delicious! :)
