Interesting menu, generous portions - Edit
Bang Up to the Elephant is a colorful spot with a lot of character and friendly service. The food we had was pretty good and the portions were generous enough that we had to take some home. Service was friendly. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting).

My favorite denver spot! - Edit
Bang Up to the Elephant is one of my favorite Denver restaurants. It’s fully vegan and all the food we tried was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were so unique and the restaurant ambiance was 10/10. I mean… seriously the bar is so cute. We ordered the curried fries (wow), coconut curry, and mofungo (yum). Im still drooling days later.

Fantastic, Criminally Underrated - Edit
This place rules. I've eaten virtually everything on their menu, and everything is delicious, filling and relatively healthy. They also offer top tier tiki drinks.

Double of the doubles & doubles please - Edit
No complaints.
Read moreThe atmosphere is great, they try to be environmentally conscious and the food is all so good (especially those doubles). Good happy hour.
Tried the doubles, corn bread, black eyed peas and rice, bake and chana with plantain and corn chips.
Pros: Great atmosphere, Good food, Very nice staff

Interesting food, nice waitstaff - Edit
Found the food interesting and yummy and got the sense the owners truly care about the environment and were thoughtful about how they used the space. No concerts when we were there but we saw a great looking venue there as well.

Overpriced and slow, but some solid dishes - Edit
We really liked the fun decor and vibe of this restaurant upon entering. Our table was ready and we got right in. We ordered cocktails and appetizers, but at that point the service really slowed. We didn’t see our server for 15 minutes, and our appetizers came out way before our drinks. The plantain chips with friends was very underwhelming, mostly corn chips with just a few fried plantains thrown in. The sauces were good, but there were only two and we ran out very quickly. The starter tacos, a.k.a. “Doubles” had incredible flavor, definitely the best thing we ate the whole time there, but was still a poor experience S the taco was literally wrapped in paper and dropped onto our table without a word. We expected the order to contain 2 tacos but it only contained 1, that wasn’t clear from the very limited menu. Our entrees were good, especially the coconut curry. Dessert would have been welcomed, but there were none on the menu. The cocktails were pricey but delicious. All in all, we left with full bellies and smiles, but also a big bill and a lot of wasted time later. Mildly disappointing.

Just Okay - Edit
While the setting is fun and the service great, I thought the food underperformed for the price.
Read moreIt wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good enough to return. There’s a lot of promise with this place so if they can just tweak the flavors these dishes could be great.
Pros: Venue
Cons: Flavor could be better , Pricey

Very nutritious! - Edit
Everything on the menu looked really good and it was hard to choose what to get! I ordered one of the bowls with tofu, it was super nutritious and definitely something I needed after trying other vegan food around Denver .....I felt the bowl was pretty good but tofu was lacking in flavor, but overall still enjoyable. Portions were large enough that we had some yummy left overs. The fried potato appetizer and plantain chips with mango and cucumber salsa were delicious. Would recommend.

Pure Food Heaven! - Edit
My girlfriend brought me here for dinner and the moment I walked in I was happy. The place is so cool, i love the ambiance and the decor. It’s got high ceilings, totally chill, and kind of gives me tiki bar vibes.
Read moreWe started with drinks, I had Month of Sundays and the mezcal was top notch.
I have celiac so i was limited in choices but was able to order the Coconut Curry with a side of papaya pineapple slaw.
The curry was incredible and i have to say the coconut rice was the best I’ve ever had. I could live off the rice and be happy. The flavors were amazing and expansive.
My girlfriend ordered the Buss Up Shut with a side of roti and a side of plantains. The Buss Up was delicious and the flavors blew my mind.
I wasn’t able to try the roti or plantains but both looked delish!
We split a Dirty Banana for dessert, and I’m not big on banana but it was pretty darn good!
So glad this place exists and I’ll be back for more!!!!!
Pros: Drink Selection, Incredible Food , Ambiance

Not bad. Not great - Edit
It's a nice open concept space. The greeter and waitress were both attentive and kind. But the food struck us as amateurish. We shared a butternut squash and potato curry and the cauliflower wings. The cauliflower wings were not the best I've had in Denver. But they were okay.
Read moreThe curry seemed not to have much flavor nuance - just a heavy dose of curry powder and pepper. Again, it was not awful, but not nearly as good as we were expecting judging from other reviews we'd read. I may try a different menu item another time. But for now I'll be skipping this spot.
Pros: Kind and attentive service, Coconut rice was good

Pretty Good - Edit
I got the Doubles, which were on Happy Hour special, and they were terrific! Interesting flavors, and held together well. Then I got the mofongo, it was so right but pretty bland. It would have been nice if it had some smokey bits of the seitan ham they use on other dishes. Not the strong flavors or jerks that one finds in the Caribbean.

Great venue and personality - average food - Edit
The first thing that strikes you is the humour when you call up as the answering message is hilarious. The venue is qwerky - a lot of personality and huge. The non alcoholic cocktail made by a wonderful waitress. But the food! It was so average. I had the plantain and potato dish in a tomato sauce. Very bland. I then ordered the chow mein noodles. Lovely fresh vegetables but the flavour was again too sweet and not tasty. The couple next to me were also not impressed with the roti they were given. I hope the owners read this and make changes. Not worth the price.

Interesting dishes but a bit expensive - Edit
From the Quesadilla to the Lo Mein, there are a lot of cool dishes that I've missed since going vegan. But overall the prices are a bit higher than the amount and quality of food you get. Still a nice place.

Quiet spot for a Wednesday Afternoon - Edit
Bang Up to the Elephant opens at 4pm. It's a great after work quiet wind down location. The curried waffle fries are my go-to, but everything I've explored on the menu is solid good. As the evening rolls on, it picks up more traffic. Good food, good vibes.

Absolutely the best! - Edit
I love Caribbean food but it’s hard to find vegan options, so I was excited to try this place and it exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing, and the decor was fun and funky. The coconut bread, mofongo, and fried plantains blew my mind. I also had a couple curries that were hearty and delicious. Highly recommended!
